What you’ll be doing...

The Global Network Management – Commercial Data Systems team in Verizon manages business critical platforms that provide 3G, 4G, and 5G services to Verizon customers. The function of the IMS Systems Engineering team is to ensure end-to-end reliability of wireless voice, data and other services. Furthermore, the team analyzes the performance of IMS and VoLTE core applications, which provide critical services such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, One Talk, and Visible, etc.

The primary focus of this position is to act as a team lead for troubleshooting on outage bridges, as needed. Additional duties include performance monitoring, tool operation and engineering, and stated below:

  • Support complex network investigations.

  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and training to other team members and within the organization.

  • Document and provide status on strategic initiatives to management.

  • Manage vendor and inter-organization relationships.

  • Develop ongoing leadership and soft skills.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for service call flows and troubleshooting.

  • Investigate high profile escalations and network events.

  • Monitor and trend IMS and VoLTE statistics to find and resolve network issues including Core and EPC problems.

  • Proactively collect and analyze data with the goal of improving the network performance.

  • Identify and resolve IMS and VoLTE core performance issues through detailed packet analysis.

  • Work with vendors and internal teams to establish KPI requirements to ensure meaningful network reporting and accurate alarming.

  • Provide monitoring support during outages and mission critical network changes.

  • Administrate and maintain core network tools.

  • Support all Verizon teams and vendors with tools, tool training, investigations and data gathering.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Strong statistical and analytical abilities.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Detail oriented, and ability to follow up through to completion on all assignments/projects/deadlines.

  • Four or more years of experience working in a 4G/LTE/IMS environment with knowledge of LTE, EHRPD, IMS and VoLTE call flows and architecture (HSS, AAA, CSCF, PCRF, TAS, SCG, MRF Transcoder, and Presence)

  • Knowledge of technologies and services like RCS Chat, STIR SHAKEN, 5G, Cloud computing, Virtualization etc.

  • TCP/IP v4/v6 knowledge.

  • Knowledge of 4G LTE call flows.

  • Knowledge of VoLTE HD Voice/Video call flows.

  • Experiencein Wireshark for packet analysis.

  • Experience with network tools such as NetScout, SevOne, Irisview, RTT, and MTAS

  • Protocols (DIAMETER, SIP, Radius, DNS) knowledge.

  • OpenStack – Cloud based computing experience.

  • Scripting (Bash, Ksh, Perl, TCL, Python) experience.
