Job Description:

The Defense & Intelligence Group with Leidos has an opening for an Engineering Technician V supporting our NATSC contract in Newport Rhode Island.

Primary Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities of this position include repairing Jigs/Tools/Test Equipment (JTF), inspecting and polishing fiber optic cables, performing Preventive Maintenance (PM) on NATSC JTF, and building/repairing electrical pigtail assemblies and Measurement Quality Jumpers (MQJs) in accordance with detailed procedures. JTF repair efforts include using test equipment to take measurement readings and assess the working condition of JTF items (i.e. Pressure Adapters, Tension Fixtures, etc.) and perform necessary repairs to return the item to working condition. JTF PM efforts include taking fiber and electrical measurements using test equipment as defined in established PM Cards.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must be capable of soldering wires and inspecting and polishing fiber optic cables.

Candidates must be able to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.

The selected candidate will be provided fiber optic and J-STD solder training.

Candidates must have a high school diploma and three years related Technical School or Navy experience, and be capable of obtaining a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active US DOD security clearance at the SECRET level.
  • Prior work experience at the NATSC Towed Array depot repair facility.
  • Advanced degree from a Technical School a plus.
