Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Engineering Lab Test Technician. This role has 10% travel involved.

The hourly rate for this position is $30.40 - $45.60 per hour. The first shift hours are as follows, 5:30 am - 1:45 pm.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This position responsible for engineering activities required to support the development and qualification testing for components and systems in the Engineering Test Lab (ETL). Reports to the Engineering Test Lab Manager and interfaces with all internal departments and customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform diversified test operations to requirements or run development tests for operations as directed by engineer without direct supervision.
  • Make test setups for hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, vibration and environmental tests based on Quality Test Procedure (QTP) figures, schematics, or engineering instructions without direct supervision.
  • Communicate test results and anomalies to lead technician, ETL Manager and responsible Engineer in a timely manner. Upload results into required Enovia workspaces.
  • Assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot and test development mechanical assemblies based on blueprints, router sheets or engineering instructions. Provide feedback on process improvement to assembly instructions.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments, gauges, visual instruments, and test equipment to verify proper function and operation of assemblies. Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation issues.
  • Utilizes hand tools, fixtures, pneumatic, and power tools for the assembly and test of components.
  • Suggest opportunities to improve tooling to drive efficiency.
  • Perform lock wire/safety wire and nameplate.
  • Work with minimal supervision. Completed work is spot checked.
  • May be temporarily reassigned to cover workload in other areas of production as necessary.
  • May train employees in production focus factories
  • Maintain and complete required documentation, such as test logs and data sheets.
  • Performance verification as an operator/inspector for others in the department
  • Customize safety guards and/or shields as needed for new testing setups
  • Maintain clean and safe work area. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations
  • Review qualification, acceptance and development test procedures
  • Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) meetings
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent from an accredited institution

• 5 years’ experience working in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical principles in a manufacturing environment.

• No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of Los Angeles, CA facility will be considered for this position.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Basic Qualifications for Internal Applicants:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent from an accredited institution

• A&P License with a minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Assembler & Tester A

OR

• Minimum of 8 years’ experience working in assembly and testing of hydraulic and electromechanical control valves and knowledge of hydraulic test equipment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience building electromechanical instrumentation and test integration

• Minimum of 5 years of Aerospace experience preferred

• Outside lab experience, including setup for EMI/HIRF (lighting, cable injection, magnetic effects), acceleration, vibration, shock and environmental (Salt Fog, Sand and Dust, Icing)

• Experienced with FAA setup conformity and functional testing off-site preferred.

• Ability to flex to 2nd Shift on an as-needed basis for testing purposes.

Skills:

POSITION CRITERIA QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in assembly and test technique, plus an understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical principles. Understand theory and be able to apply it.

• Strong technical skills

• Able to adapt and react quickly to internal and external customer demands

• Proficient interpreting hydraulic and electrical blueprints, testing schematics, verbal, and/or written instructions.

• Knowledge of shop, mechanical and electrical test equipment and testing procedures and the ability to test a variety of assemblies/sub-assemblies.

• Ability to work with inspection gages, multimeters, force scales, torque wrenches, and production test equipment.

• Ability to work from written and verbal instructions.

• Working knowledge of Eaton production units or similar electromechanical products by acquiring in-depth product knowledge through testing and evaluation of units to identify failures.

• Ability to retain knowledge of units produced.

• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with other departments, organizations and customers.

• Ability to push, pull and lift up to 25 lbs.

• Required computer skills for processing and analysis of data.
