Under minimal supervision designs, constructs, tests and repairs prototype and/or production equipment/products as well as provides technical support to assigned units.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Will build experimental apparatus, instrumentation or systems of moderate complexity.
  • Will provide technical support to assigned units (e.g. repair analysis, component issue resolution, etc.)
  • May plan for and order repair and/or prototype components.
  • Will extract and process test data and perform routine analysis to ensure accuracy, applicability and reasonableness.
  • Will construct components and/or subassemblies of experimental apparatus or prototype models.
  • Will be required to comply with documentation procedures.
  • Will work from engineering schematics and/or verbal instructions.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Blueprint/schematic reading skills.
  • Ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, etc.), small power tools and common test/inspection equipment.
  • Intermediate math and writing skills.
  • Electrical/mechanical problem solving skills.
  • 2+ years related technical experience.

Education/Special Training Required

  • A.A.S. preferred
