What You Will Do

The Spine Specialist will be responsible for clinical surgical coverage and sales support activities of Stryker Spine customers in a designated area. This is a field based (hospital) role and there will be some evening and weekend work based on business needs/case volume. Candidates must already live within the territory or be willing to relocate on their own. The Spine Specialist will:

  • Represent and cover Spine surgical cases professionally, efficiently and effectively.
  • Able to succinctly articulate the proper use of surgical instruments and implants to surgeons, nurses, and sales representatives.
  • Process instrument sets and paperwork efficiently and promptly
  • Maintain a high and increasing knowledge of our instruments, implants, surgical techniques, and procedures.
  • Keep Sales Representative(s) and Regional Manager informed of territory happenings and progress on a regular basis.
  • Provide support to territory as needed by Sales Representative and Sales Manager.
  • Remains informed of new products and other general information of interest to customers; monitors and gathers information on competitive activity.
  • Manage and maintain inventory.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings, training programs, conventions, and trade shows as directed.
  • Assist in execution of Local, Regional and National Medical Education events.
  • Complete all required and requested reports correctly and submit in a timely matter.

What You Need

To be successful in this role you must have mastered spinal anatomy and anatomical landmarks necessary to instruct a surgeon on the use of Stryker Spine products.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year accredited college or university, preferred.
  • Surgical Technologist certificate or nursing degree, preferred.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a clinical and/or operating room environment, preferred
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport, develop and maintain relationships.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to travel to all accounts within assigned territory, as directed by Sales Manager.
  • Must be able to lift and carry multiple surgical trays (minimum 24 lbs).
  • Must be available on 24-hour per day basis, to respond to customer emergencies.
  • This position requires the handling of instruments that may have been contaminated by blood or other bodily fluids. In compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Stryker will provide a safe working environment for all employees.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The vision requirements include: close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
