What you’ll be doing...

The Senior Strategic Communication Specialistwill be supporting the centralized CIO Support Team and Chief of Staff Office of the growing Verizon Business Group - Global Technology Solutions organization. This team is responsible for all executive and employee communication, training, and engagement activities across a global, cross-functional organization. In this role, you will be aligned to an Executive Director, responsible for supporting a Digital team with executive communication and reporting, material and slideware, content authorship for a globally published magazine, as well as meeting and event coordination. You will help in driving a purpose driven culture by supporting employee engagement initiatives like the Promethean Adventures, Verizon volunteer activities, managing recognition, and assisting with external events and award submissions. You will have the opportunity to evolve and leave your thumbprint on the organization, by creating new frameworks, partnering across the organization and driving new processes to implementation. You will be coordinating input from the global team, writing success stories on employees and projects, and stakeholdering across multiple business units and partners. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, high-energy, organized, and able to support cross-functional coordination in a demanding environment and possess excellent judgment.

Responsibilities:

  • Build strategic communication, slideware and messaging for executive consumption and distribution
  • Content management and authorship for weekly highlights/monthly magazine/global website
  • Partner with Director and above team to facilitate and manage weekly deliverables
  • Identify and understand monthly key success measures to help tell the right story
  • Prepare agendas in advance and coordinate meeting minutes and action items
  • Manage industry events participation and external award submission for entire organization
  • Provide support of the Promethean Program to enable a culture of learning and engagement
  • Development, support, and implementation of robust action plans in response to employee feedback
  • Support all necessary initiatives across GTS Strategy & Culture team
  • Drive total employee satisfaction through rigorous recognition
  • Be an ambassador of employee engagement including the coordination and planning of team building forums and events, including volunteering, All Hands, and Town Halls
  • Support onboarding of new resources and life cycle of Campus Directs, Interns, and Thrive Apprentices

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Executive Assistant, Communication, Project Management, or Marketing experience.
  • Experience with GSuite.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • Business operations experience, project management skills, and knowledge of the IT environment
  • Experience with Poppulo, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience supporting senior level executives

  • Employee must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong executive presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate with all employee levels, taking technical details and synthesizing to be consumed by broader teams
  • Ability to design and create slide wear for executive presentations, articles and newsletters
  • Employee must be proactive and self-starting, ability to anticipate needs and proactively bring together appropriate people
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a demanding environment
  • Experience in collaborating with a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Ability to report to multiple stakeholders in a timely and effective manner through both meetings and presentations
