The Digital Marketing Solutions team part of the Global AH IT team is looking for a Sr. Specialist Mobile App Analyst to join the Digital Marketing Solutions team. Responsibilities include managing the release of Animal Health’s internal and external iPhone and Android applications; providing consultation to our suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve development and publication issues; reporting and analytics for internal and external mobile apps; liaison with Apple and Google’s review teams; working with other teams in the company to establish quality guidelines; ensuring that mobile apps meet company’s compliance and technical requirements. The position will require mobile development experience and the ability to understand, build, and troubleshoot code from our suppliers, but the mobile app technical lead will not be developing mobile applications themselves. As the position involves providing guidance to other teams and active collaboration with both technical and non-technical personnel, solid technical and non-technical communication skills will be required to succeed.

Responsibilities:

Review all new mobile app project demand. This is to ensure project fits within our technology stack. The mobile app technical lead involves collaborating with regional IT, agencies, business owners, and other DMS team members. Be an influencer in designing the right technical approach both from an industry standard and from company/DMS guidelines for app development.

Managing the release of iPhone and Android app releases: internally to our internal Apps store, and externally to the App Store and Google Play Store.

  • Management and organization of app source code using our BitBucket GIT repository.

  • Management of users for agencies to ensure appropriate repository access rights.

  • Submission of compiled code to our vulnerability scanning tool(s), and providing remediation advice to development teams (with assistance from the ITRMS AppSec team).

  • Compiling apps for testing on approved Merck UAT testing platforms such as MS AppCenter.

  • Management of Digital Marketing Services’ Apple and Google Play Store accounts, including developer accounts. Including, but not limited to: creating/managing app ids, entitlements, provisioning profiles, signing certificates and keystores; creating store listings; submitting builds for review by Apple/Google; managing TestFlight/Google Play Test channels; and functioning as the liaison between our company and Apple/Google to resolve issues.

  • Liaison with other teams for release and management of internal applications to the Apps store, including change management administration.

  • Ensuring apps meet compliance, branding, and security reviews prior to release, including providing suitability advice on future application plans.

  • Updating the in-house asset management system (WebUniverse) with mobile application details.


Responsible for managing the app analytics and reporting. This includes:

  • Setting up application projects and providing Firebase configuration files to dev teams.

  • Setting up Google Firebase analytics reporting for app owners.

  • Run customized reports as/when requested for certain time periods.

  • Providing reports from App Store and Google Play Store statistics.

Technical Consultant to App Developers

  • Supporting agencies and troubleshooting with development issues that may occur, including providing advice based on source code reviews, black box, grey box, or white box testing.

  • Providing advice/recommending solutions for issues that may be reported during the vulnerability scanning process.

  • Providing input to agency partners on the implementation of development best practices during the mobile app development lifecycle

  • Providing advice on types of technologies accepted, and consulting with agencies on development capabilities. This includes working directly with an agency’s app developers to ensure suitability and quality.

  • Providing cross-platform support and creating builds from multiple different technologies.

  • Providing implementation advice to agencies and others on consuming remote APIs and web services. A familiarity with the processes involved in back-end server development, including suitable technologies and methodologies is required.

Team collaborator for process improvements

  • Providing an assessment of our current mobile app governance model to identify possible enhancements and implementation advice.

  • Contributing to an overall strategy for management of our mobile portfolio.

Assist in implementing maintenance program for all in-scope mobile apps, including on-going support.

Managing the mobile app certification program for agencies, including technical triage and feedback, performance scoring and overall evaluation. This will require a knowledge of software development best practices, as well as mobile app development best practices, as well as experience with meeting current Apple and Google publication requirements.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Required technology experience: At least 2 years’ professional experience is required developing or QA of applications with: Swift, Java, Kotlin,

Additional Preferred technology experience: Up to 2 years or greater of professional experience developing or QA of applications with Xamarin (.Net) and React-Native.
