This position is eligible for up to $2,000 in Welcome Bonuses throughout the first year of employment.

Starting salary is between $50,999.65 - $65,497.58 annually, ($25.31 - $32.51/ hour) based on skills and qualifications, with the high end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience. Because work-life-balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

Where you'll work:

This is a hybrid position, so you'll work from home at least 75% of the time, and 25% of the time collaboratively in office.

Hours of operation are continually evaluated and may change based on business need. Successful candidates are able and willing to work flexible work shifts and may be asked to work overtime and/or irregular hours.

Responsibilities

When you join our team, you can feel good knowing you are helping our customers recover from the unexpected. Our Claims Specialists are committed to helping our customers through the claims process while providing Remarkable® service. This includes:
  • Investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling claims
  • Applying knowledge of policies, and insurance regulations when determining coverage, liability, & damages
  • Contacting customers by telephone, written correspondence and/or various electronic media
  • Effectively managing work through task driven queues while multi-tasking in a fast-paced call center environment
  • Supporting our customers through personalized, caring, and simple interactions

Do you enjoy solving mysteries - closely examining clues and piecing together evidence, all with the freedom and responsibility to make fact-based decisions? Our claim handlers are highly-trained, skilled investigators and decision makers, researching theft losses to determine coverage for our claims. We work with customers, witnesses, police departments and other parties across the country and resolve millions of claims each year. As a customer facing Fire Segment, we handle low-severity Home and Renters claims in a team environment. Claims are primarily theft-related, as well as minor weather and other types of property losses.
  • Uses various electronic resources for claim handling
  • Applies knowledge of state and federal laws, statutes and insurance regulations in claim handling
  • Interprets and applies insurance contract provisions
  • Utilizes appropriate job aids, knowledge and tools to process the initial reception of claims
  • Documents the claim file according to file documentation workflow and standard claim processes
  • Completes phone scope of damages with the assistance of the policyholder including; a detailed description of property damage, identification of building items, measurements to complete building estimates
  • May request material samples for evaluation
  • Reconciles submitted estimates with State Farm estimate on non-complex property damage losses and issues replacement cost benefits payments
  • Secures inventory of damaged personal property and issues claim settlement payment
  • Requests and reviews replacement quotes on personal property loss claims
  • Reconciles invoices and receipts and issues payment for replacement cost benefits
  • May provide direction to Claim Associates
  • Consults with claims management on coverage issues to determine appropriate course of action
  • Recognizes and handles subrogation opportunities, updating all subrogation fields and moves file to subrogation for handling, when applicable
  • Recognizes and handles retained salvage and monitors pending salvage sale items
  • Collaborates with other claim segments and internal partners
  • Interacts with internal partners, agents, other insurance companies, vendors, contractors, and service providers in the course of conducting investigations
  • Recognizes and refers complex coverage or technical issues to appropriate claim segment

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

HOURS OF OPERATION: The anticipated hours of operation will be 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., customer time. As such, depending on the customer time zone and employee office location, employee shifts may fall outside of 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. employee time. Employees may be expected to work in a shift environment including irregular hours, weekends, and holidays based on workload and job requirements. Employees' work schedules may change based on business need.

LICENSING: The successful candidate selected for this position will receive a job offer stating that continued employment as a Claim Specialist is contingent upon meeting the requirements necessary to obtain appropriate state(s) mandated licenses. This includes successfully completing all applicable licensing exam(s), and background checks required of various state(s). Failure to do so may result in termination.

TRAINING: Selected candidates must be available for mandatory, paid training, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for 9-10 weeks. Toward the end of training, employees will receive their regular, assigned work schedules.
