This position is eligible for up to $2,000 in Welcome Bonuses throughout the first year of employment.

Starting salary is between $50,999.65 - $75,502.05 annually, ($25.31 - $37.47/ hour) based on skills and qualifications, with the high end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience. Because work-life-balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

Where you'll work:

This is a hybrid position, so you'll work from home at least 75% of the time, and 25% of the time collaboratively in office.

Hours of operation are continually evaluated and may change based on business need. Successful candidates are able and willing to work flexible work shifts and may be asked to work overtime and/or irregular hours.

Responsibilities

  • Investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling claims
  • Applying knowledge of policies, and insurance regulations when determining coverage, liability, & damages
  • Contacting customers by telephone, written correspondence and/or various electronic media
  • Effectively managing work through task driven queues while multi-tasking in a fast-paced call center environment
  • Supporting our customers through personalized, caring, and simple interactions

Home Commercial Claims Services (HCCS) Stewardship handles property claims reported in a high-volume call center environment. We deliver on the promise State Farm has made to each customer, allowing them to see the value State Farm brings to their lives as they recover from the unexpected. We have the opportunity to bring calm to stressful situations and give them confidence that we are here to help through life's disruptions.
  • Resolves a large volume of claims in an in office environment through investigation, evaluation, negotiation, verification of coverage, and extent of damage to property
  • Examines claims submitted by insureds and/or third parties, or such claims referred from other claim units, to determine whether additional or specialized investigation is necessary for claim resolution
  • Handles claims that may require collaboration/coordination of physical inspections with other claim handlers
  • Prepares and/or reviews property estimates and contents estimates in loss settlements
  • Assists agents in the resolution of claims
  • Develops and applies basic knowledge of property damage related issues to handle claims within approved level of authority
  • Seeks guidance from claims management on coverage issues to determine appropriate course of action when needed
  • Uses various electronic resources for claim handling
  • Utilizes appropriate job aids, knowledge and tools to handle claims
  • Collaborates with other claim segments and internal partners
  • Reviews and confirms information gathered in initial contact and secures additional information as needed
  • Completes virtual inspection of property damage, prepares building repair estimates and issues claim settlement payments
  • Scopes and/or secures inventory of damaged personal property, enters into contents estimating platform and issues claim settlement payment
  • Interprets and applies insurance contract provisions
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with witnesses, agents, insurance companies, vendors, contractors, attorneys, and others in the course of conducting investigations
  • Documents the claim file according to the file documentation workflow and standard claim processes
  • Reconciles submitted estimates with State Farm estimate on property damage losses and issues replacement cost benefits payments
  • Reconciles invoices and receipts submitted on personal property losses and issues payment for replacement cost benefits
  • Works in partnership with and provides instruction to contents team
  • Learns and applies knowledge of state and federal laws, statutes and insurance regulations in claim handling
  • Learns to recognize subrogation and salvage issues
  • Learns and uses claims policies and procedures
  • Handles non-routine claims and tasks independently
  • Serves as a resource for other State Farm associates on claim related issues
  • Recommends appropriate resolution of coverage issues to management
  • Recognizes and handles subrogation opportunities, updating all appropriate subrogation fields and prepares file for subrogation handling
  • Recognizes and reviews claims requiring specialized handling including identifying issues that may require the use of independent experts or vendors
