This position is eligible for up to $2,000 in Welcome Bonuses throughout the first year of employment.

Starting salary is between $58,011.85 - $92,377.68 annually, ($28.79 - $45.85/ hour) based on skills and qualifications, with the high end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience. Because work-life-balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

Where you'll work:

This is a hybrid position, so you'll work from home at least 75% of the time, and 25% of the time collaboratively in office.

Hours of operation are continually evaluated and may change based on business need. Successful candidates are able and willing to work flexible work shifts and may be asked to work overtime and/or irregular hours.

Responsibilities

  • Investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling claims
  • Applying knowledge of policies, and insurance regulations when determining coverage, liability, & damages
  • Contacting customers by telephone, written correspondence and/or various electronic media
  • Effectively managing work through task driven queues while multi-tasking in a fast-paced call center environment
  • Supporting our customers through personalized, caring, and simple interactions

Key job responsibilities: Special Investigative Unit (SIU) Hybrid Claim Specialist position includes the identification, investigation and handling of Auto and Fire claims across multiple jurisdictions, including Property and Injury exposures, and identity theft.

An SIU Claim Specialist will be responsible for the following:
  • Recognizes NICB Indicators of Fraud, focuses on suspicious loss indicator resolution and follow up on inconsistencies discovered during the investigation of the claim.
  • Investigates claims to resolve indicators of fraud and initiate payment or, if investigation determines the claim is without merit, resist payment of claims.
  • Collaborates with other teams to coordinate the investigation of claims associated with a multi-party project as needed.
  • Investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and concludes first and third-party claims including verification of coverage, legal liability and extent of damage to persons and property, which may involve contact by telephone, in person, or by correspondence.
  • Serves as a liaison to the public, government entities, and law enforcement agencies on insurance fraud issues.

Additional Details:
  • Fulfill state licensing and continuing education requirements as applicable.
  • Job may require travel overnight via commercial transportation or driving motor vehicles to any office locations where the Company does business, or other locations to conduct/attend training, conferences, meetings, and/or seminars.
  • May be required to work beyond normal business hours, including varying work shifts, nights, weekends and holidays, based on workload and as the operation dictates.
  • Must maintain a valid license to lawfully operate vehicles as directed/requested by State Farm.

Additional Qualifications based on Claim segment requirements:

Competitive candidates will have extensive experience with fraud investigations and knowledge and experience with the tools associated with fraud investigations. Competitive candidates will also have 2-3 years' experience with Injury and/or Property damage claim handling.

Qualified candidates must be able to identify industry-recognized suspicious loss indicators, demonstrate a working knowledge of investigative resources, tools and techniques, and possess above average written and verbal communication skills.
