Job Description

Location – Remote (base location – Kenilworth, NJ)

Associate Specialist, Software Engineer will work within the Human Health Insights, Analytics and Data area to contribute to development of our advanced data science application platform. We are realizing the vision of a cohesive commercial decision support suite, helping stakeholders make data-driven decisions to optimize delivery of our product to patients.

The Software Engineers solve complex problems, work with team members in and across the teams. You will be responsible for designing and developing a software solution and partner through to successful delivery. You will deliver on schedule, using appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices. Communication is an integral part of this role; you will engage with stakeholders on planning and communication of project deliverables. In the event of problems, you can troubleshoot, research the root cause, thoroughly resolve defects whilst maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders and customers.

Tasks:

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and document distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services.

  • Translate functional requirements into robust, efficient, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture.

  • Participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery, and maintenance.

  • Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation.

  • Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools.

  • Mentor junior development engineers.

Education Minimum:

A minimum of BS (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, IT, or an equivalent scientific/commercial discipline.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Highly proficient in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, C++, Go, C#, TypeScript etc.

  • Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, object-oriented programming, design, and analysis of algorithms.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organization and time management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to provide in-depth evaluation and exploration of unique complex technological issues.

Preferred skills:

  • Designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services.

  • Good comprehension with the application of security principles in cloud services development.

  • Working with data extraction systems and data processing technologies such as Airflow, Spark, Kafka, etc.

  • Working with Amazon Web Services technologies such as EC2, S3, Redshift, and EMR.

  • Exposure and comprehension of machine learning lifecycle, data science algorithms such as advanced statistical methods, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing (NLP) modeling and model evaluation is a plus.

Expected salary range:

$72,880.00 - $114,600.00
