Please be advised that this role is also a hands-on development position where the proper candidate will be involved with architecting, developing, implementing, deploying, and supporting COTS & custom internally developed software.

Desired Candidate Characteristics

  • Have a strong commitment to a career in technology with a passion for healthcare 

  • Ability to understand the needs of the business and commitment to deliver the best user experience and adoption 

  • 5+ years’ of experience in all phases of SDLC involving Analysis, Design, Development, Deployment, Testing, and Implementation of Web & Client/ Server applications using Java.

  • Experience in design, development, implementation, and testing of J2EE applications using JSP, JDBC, Servlets, EJB, JSON, XML, JMS, Java Mail, DOM/SAX, SOAP Web services.

  • Experience in the developing web applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, Angular,JSON, and XML.

  • Experience in Web frameworks Struts and Spring.

  • Experience in Hibernate ORM

  • Experience in implementing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) using XML based SOAP/RESTful web services.

  • Experience with configuring and deploying applications on WebLogic Application server, Apache Tomcat Web Server and WildFly/JBOSS.

  • Experience in Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP), DevOps, Configuration management, Infrastructure automation, Continuous integration, and Delivery (CI/CD) is a plus.

  • Extensive experience in RDBMS/RDS such as Oracle, SQL server and PostgreSQL.

  • Expertise in Core Java (Multi-Threading, Exception Handling) and J2EE Design Patterns(MVC, Session Façade, Service Locator, Data Access Object etc.)

  • Experience in Jenkins or similar tools for continuous integration and end to end automation of all build and deployments is a plus.

  • Experience in using/managing source code repositories like SVN, TFS, GIT, GitHub, Bitbucket.

  • Knowledge of ANT ,Maven, Log4j and J-Unit for project build, test, and deployment.

  • Project Management skills, and experience with agile and scrum methodologies.

  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and of computer systems validation (CSV)

  • Able to collaborate across multiple teams  

  • Experience with creating architectural diagrams/understanding of infrastructure setups/managing deployments ranging with varying complexities.

  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, HBase, Cassandra is a plus.

  • Knowledge of integration technologies such as WebMethods is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Java GUI frameworks like Swing, SWT, AWT is a plus

  • Knowledge in Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of GXP and 21CFR Part11 standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the development and production support and life cycle management for multiple systems used by Pharmaceutical Development and Global supplies within GPS.

  • Accountable for managing day to day operational support, enabling the business to scale while improving key performance indicators impacting their efficiencies and improving overall customer experience.

  • Collaborate with Business and IT Plan functions to develop solutions for business problems including defining business requirements, provide project timelines and budget, develop acceptance criteria, testing, training, and change management plans.

  • Contributes heavily towards developing a plan for development activities and translates those into actionable projects. These include releases, required modifications and discretionary enhancements to support the application life cycle.

  • Collaborate directly with the business clients, IT Business Partners and other IT functions on delivery of digital capabilities.

  • Take complete ownership of releases from design till deployment and successful production run. This includes coordination with Ops team to deploy applications to various environments.

  • Maintain and develop documentation, procedures to assist Support / Maintenance and meet compliance position.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Requires advanced knowledge applicable to a wide range of work in own function and thorough knowledge of other functions, typically gained through a university degree and 5-7 years of experience.

  • May lead initiatives related to continuous improvement or implementation of new technologies. Works independently on most deliverables.

  • Coordinate with offshore teams ensuring that all team members are successful in their delivery of services to the business. 

  • Demonstrates ability to build and leverage relationships through diplomacy with a broader focus within the Function.

  • Articulates and presents complex information clearly and concisely across all levels. Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and expertise thereby establishing a strong reputation for themselves and the team.

  • Participates in decision making and brings a variety of strong views and perspective to achieve team objectives.
