Senior Specialist, Financial & Planning

This position operates under the guidance of the Finance Director who supports area’s within Our Company's Research Labs called Global Medical and Scientific Affairs (GMSA), The Center for Observational and Real-World Evidence (CORE), and our Company's Investigator Study Program (MISP).

The position is primarily accountable for providing financial support to tour Company's Investigator Study Program (MISP) and will also contribute to GMSA and GCD operational support, consolidations, and special projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing strong relationships with key business clients to enable an active role as a business partner and advisor

  • Facilitating the development, execution, and analysis of strategy and business plans

  • Developing expense budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range operating plans that enable clients to meet their goals and achieve broader organizational targets

  • Performing monthly close tasks, including preparing journal entries, reviewing actual results, providing variance commentary, analyzing spending trends, and proposing any corrective actions as necessary

  • Developing ad hoc analyses, processes, and tools in support of change initiatives and other business needs

  • Developing strong relationships with key partners including Procurement, HR, IT, and broader Finance to ensure coordinated planning and execution of client area priorities

  • In this role, the candidate should expect to:

    • Gain end-to-end exposure to the drug development process and the Research & Development pipeline while gaining relevant experience supporting functions in GMSA and GCD

    • Influence and impact clients by helping to navigate a world of almost limitless scientific opportunities but with limited financial resources

    • Further develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills

    • Gain experience in change management and project management

    • Increase personal network through engagement with other key business partners (IT, Project Management, Human Resources, Procurement, etc.)

Travel: Limited to no travel in the job unless deemed important by the business or clients.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • B.A./B.S., preferably in Business, Finance

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of operations or Finance experience

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving

  • Sound and balanced judgment, with the ability to assess and handle risk

  • Results and process-driven orientation

  • Passion and intellectual curiosity with respect to research & development

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a challenging and complex environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, build and maintain diverse client and peer relationships

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong computer skills, especially working with Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience with SAP, BPC, and financial databases

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$97,680.00 - $153,700.00
