Job Description

Organon is recruiting for a Privacy Specialist in Lisbon, Portugal. In this role, you will support the Chief Privacy Officer (based in the US), the global privacy program and will be a member of the Global Privacy Office.

As the Privacy Specialist, you will provide support on privacy compliance activities including drafting and managing updates to privacy policies and procedures, developing global consents and privacy notices, managing processes and updates to record of processing activities, supporting and managing updates to privacy impact assessments and vendor assessments.

The Privacy professional will track the requirements and compliance activities of global privacy and data protection laws and regulations, developing privacy related training materials, working with local teams including global privacy network to ensure privacy program elements are incorporated into local and global processes and ensuring that privacy by design principles are implemented within regional and local business initiatives, and other privacy-related duties as assigned.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage, including drafting, updates to policies, procedures, consents, notices, playbooks, and other privacy resource materials.
  • Assist with supplier privacy assessments and data protection impact assessments and updates to related processes.
  • Assist with the investigation and evaluation of privacy incidents and breaches as they occur, including notification to data subjects and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Manage the privacy department mailboxes, respond to and triage requests from external data subjects, internal stakeholders and other individuals including relating to data subject requests, incidents, general privacy advice and inquiries.
  • Coordinate and drive cross functional stakeholder alignment on current and anticipated privacy implementation projects and proposed remediations including global privacy regulatory requirements and related privacy compliance activities.
  • Provide support for implementation of privacy matters and global initiatives involving privacy activities such as cross-border transfers, privacy by design, privacy incident management, consent management and data transparency.
  • Participate in privacy-related meetings, including providing regular updates on key privacy issues and initiatives.
  • Execute upon recommendations and guidance with respect to the Global Privacy Program evolution and improvements including areas identified in self-assessments and audits.
  • Assist with the tracking of national, local, and industry-specific data privacy laws, principles, standards and best practices.
  • Assist with the management and update of records of processing operations under the responsibility of the Company.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Degree in Law, Risk Management, Corporate Compliance or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in privacy legal or privacy compliance.
  • Familiarity with global privacy laws and regulations (GDPR, CPRA, LGPD) and requirements such as data subject access requests (DSARs), data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs).
  • Familiarity with privacy controls, frameworks or standards (NIST, ISO)
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner with various audiences.
  • Detail oriented and ability to coordinate across multiple teams/countries/time zones.
  • Experience implementing tools and technology to improve and simplify programs and processes.
  • Demonstrated ethical mindset and integrity and ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize activity in alignment with business goals and compliance requirements.
