Equipment Install Designer

Your Role and Responsibilities
A meaningful role for an experienced design professional supporting the lead designer. The incumbent will be responsible to produce accurate designs required for installation of tooling and structural systems fundamental to semiconductor equipment installation. The incumbent will work with teams of equipment engineers, facility engineers, process engineers, safety professionals on a variety of IBM projects at Albany NanoTech Complex.
- Collect, review, and interpret semiconductor equipment specifications, including facility data tables, tool requirements, drawing files, and SEMI reports in preparation of new or upgraded equipment installs.
- Evaluates equipment specifications for completeness and accuracy. Documents issues for IBM; publishes issues to equipment suppliers. Works to resolve issues or concerns with equipment supplier. Resolves open issues; validates solution with appropriate authority as necessary.
- Interprets equipment specifications – then prepares cutsheet documentation specific to the installation design that include addressing facility or sub equipment necessary to support operational equipment.
- Prepares MS Excel table of equipment's facility requirements as Cutsheet.
- Prepares scope of work and definition required to support tools’ structural (load displacement, vibration, and stiffness) specifications. Leads effort for designing and deploying structural systems, including field oversight.
- Works collaboratively with site authorities (facilities, EHS), multiple suppliers, vendors, contractors, and co-workers in a professional setting.
- Engages with contractors, resulting in on-time delivery of accurate and complete designs.
- Responds to contractor requests for information and suggestions, resulting in timely closure of topics.
- Routinely reports status and progress to IBM design lead
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 5 years of experience designing semiconductor equipment tool installs and interpreting equipment
- Minimum 3 years of experience in each of at least 2 disciplines of engineering (mechanical, electrical, process, I&C, industrial, or safety/LSS) plus structural engineering discipline relative to facility infrastructure & systems.
- 5+ years of experience designing in all disciplines of engineering (mechanical, electrical, process, I&C, structural, industrial, safety/LSS) relevant to semiconductor equipment.
- 5+ years of experience in equipment engineering for a semiconductor research or manufacturing organization: both design & installation
- Positive & professional contribution to a collaborative team-work environment.
- Leads in the interests of IBM projects; supports others when they lead so as to succeed in the interests of IBM projects.
- Solicits and receives counsel of subject matter experts, IBM design lead, and IBM install lead.
- Able to multi-task on multiple equipment designs.

- Experienced user skills of MS Excel and other MS products such as Word and Powerpoint.

- Attention to detail and accuracy in design deliverables despite challenging deadlines.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, that often includes changing and competing requirements.
