Eaton is seeking a Power Electronics Firmware/Embedded Software Specialist for Power Electronics (PE) Center of Excellence (CoE) located in Raleigh NC. Relocation assistance will be provided if needed.Primary function:This individual will be responsible for firmware/embedded software development, implementation, and validation for a wide spectrum of power conversion and protection products. This individual will be also responsible for driving the use and adoption of the model-based techniques during the NPI process. This includes the use of Model in the Loop (MIL) and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) methodologies during the design and validation on new products within the Eatons product portfolio. Its where bold, bright professionals like you can reach your full potentialand where you can help us reach ours.In this role you will:+ Develop firmware/embedded software for electric motors and power converters+ Architect and design robust firmware/embedded software+ Implement, test, and troubleshoot firmware/embedded software+ Plan and perform firmware/embedded software development and validation on HIL and lab+ Create technical reports and presentations+ Initiate and lead design reviews and technical discussions including brainstorming+ Stay current with the latest technologies trends and applies knowledge to the development of firmware for electric motors and power convertersWhen we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we as individuals and as a company are stronger. QualificationsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:+ Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution+ 8+ years of related engineering experience in the control algorithm development and implementation for electric motors and/or power converters+ Strong skills in embedded software architecture and C/C++ programming+ Thorough understanding of real-time operating systems, digital signal processing, data structure, code modularity and maintainability+ Experience with DSP, FPGA, or microcontrollers, and standard peripheral components+ Experience with CAN, SPI, I2C, RS-232, 802.11x and TCP/IP protocolsPreferred Qualifications+ Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution+ Knowledge of power electronics hardware and ability to follow circuit schematics and PCB layout drawings+ Working knowledge of HIL HW and SW+ Knowledge of electric motor and power converter control techniques such as d-q transformation and P&Q control+ Experience in developing and implementing electric motor and power converter control with auto-code generation tools (e.g. Simulink Coder)+ Experience in VHDL or Verilog programmingPosition Criteria+ Self-motivated and goal oriented individual.+ Good communication and presentation skills+ Collaborative orientation, the ability to succeed in a highly team oriented, global, and diverse environment.+ Experience working in diverse culture situations with global customers and team members+ Consistently acts in an ethical, open, honest, trustworthy and truthful manner.+ Desire for innovation, new product development, program management to make what matters work!We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
