Job Summary

The MRAP Heavy Equipment Mechanic has an understanding and knowledge of all aspects of reconstitution, preservation and maintenance of USAF vehicle assets. Adheres to all applicable USAF mandatory requirements. Ensures compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS).

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provide technical assistance and training to all assigned MRAP Mechanics as required.
  • Ensures personnel adhere to safety requirements and work is performed in a safe and efficient manner to ensure correct and expeditious completion of work orders.
  • Ensures work is carried out in accordance with priorities, goals and schedules.
  • Ensures Limited Technical Inspections (LTI's) are performed within prescribed guidelines.
  • Responsible for the quality of parts research and ensures that only required repair parts are requested to include the local availability of parts and services.
  • Stores and disposes of all hazardous materials in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the rules and regulations of the host country.
  • Ensures safety practices and housekeeping standards are maintained to the highest standard.
  • Ensures that all tools and equipment are serviceable, accounted for and secured.
  • Supervises/assists with the inspection and preparation of USAF vehicle assets for air/land/sea movement.
  • Ensures compliance with safety directives, appropriate occupational safety and health standards, and applicable industrial safety publications and training.
  • Advises supervision of conditions that may disrupt the orderly and controlled execution of the maintenance plan.
  • Provide drivers training to all assigned MRAP personnel on all Variants.
  • Ensures that inspections are performed on all completed vehicle repairs to ensure a quality product is delivered to the customer on time.
  • Must be able to gain access and learn how to properly input daily transactions into the USAF Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS).
  • Works in normal office and maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office to include as a minimum Power Point, Excel and Word programs.
  • Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license for the category of vehicles and equipment assigned to MRAP.
  • Five years as a general purpose or heavy equipment mechanic required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.
  • Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting/pushing/pulling minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

    • May be required to operate material handling equipment.
    • Three years MRAP maintenance experience preferred.
    • MRAP University or ASE Certifications preferred.
