Work you'll do

  • Plan and carry out DASD migrations/conversions.
  • Analyze requirements and recommend software and hardware solutions.
  • Assist DoD business partners in the development of the requirements for SMS constructs to satisfy the data set life cycle management objectives.
  • Monitor and tune Virtual Tape Servers and Automatic Tape Libraries.
  • Install, implement, and maintain data mirroring software running on the z/OS system used to replicate data.
  • Plan and implement a disaster recovery process that recovers DASD volumes at a remote site when the volumes must be recovered using storage cartridges.
  • Meet CIO/EIS requirements for DASD performance, space, and availability.
  • Automate storage management tasks.
  • Implement a backup methodology using EMC's Timefinder or IBM's Snapshot to efficiently conduct nightly backups.
  • Design, plan, implement and configure FICON switches interfaces for z servers, disk and tape storage subsystems.
  • Serve as technical point of contact (POC) for disaster recovery exercises, including creating and implementing input/output definitions, breaking/starting/stopping data replication processes, restoring OS and ISV software to the disaster recovery box, performing IPL of the disaster recovery environment, working with other entities to successfully implement the disaster recovery exercise cutovers.
  • Maintain Disaster Recovery Replication (DASD). Identify inconsistencies, errors, replication issues. Document and present recommended corrective actions.
  • Participate in the planning, creation, and revision of documentation for storage management exercises.
  • Understand and document application and system software integration methods with IBM mainframe and peripheral hardware.
  • Research, document and provide recommendations in storage system design and development.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Minimum Five years' experience with IBM zSystem hardware platforms, storage devices, printers, channels, switches and their relational configurations and definitions including environmentals and requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required clearance for this role
