Configuration Management Specialist

Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a Configuration Management (CM) Specialist to join our team in Odon, IN!

As the CM Specialist, you will support configuration management planning and describe provisions for configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits. You will apply specific knowledge of policies and procedures and an understanding of other functions relevant to CM in your daily role. You will work to maintain records and execute data entry utilizing automated databases. You will prepare forms, verify information, and resolve routine problems. You will track all problems and changes in product documents and software and report any changes along with the current configuration.

You will perform many daily duties, including:

• Oversee all function execution in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Assist engineers and technical professionals in the writing, editing, and publication of various types of documents such as test plans, test reports, and survey reports.
• Track and monitor flow of all documents from inception to distribution of final copies. Identify and correct problem areas as they arise.
• Ensure strong emphasis on configuration planning, identifying and maintaining original configuration of requirements documentation, design documentation, software, and related documentation.
• Support the change process to ensure that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software.
• Provide quality assurance check for all document deliverables.
• Utilize appropriate computer software for document text production. Investigate and implement best ways to produce documentation electronically.
• Establish and maintain electronic and/or hard-copy data library of documents and work order files for documents received for processing.
• Perform periodic analysis and data audits on element and CRB status, including analysis of development baseline database status.
• Identify requirements, review design and implementation of automated databases, and evaluate elements requirements as they relate to the maintenance of automated databases.
• Attend automated database design meetings and provide automated database training for element personnel.
• Develop, evaluate, document, and maintain support tools designed to increase productivity.
• Lead the formal Process Improvement program. Lead Working Groups, Action Teams, and provide recommendations regarding improvements to computer program and/or hardware development process.
• Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Information Systems, or other related field and at least five (5) years of job-related experience or equivalent.
• Three (3) years configuration management experience including data entry and report generation.
• Demonstrated ability to perform detail-oriented work.
• Working knowledge of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) as it relates to configuration management.
• Specific work experience in CMM Level II or higher certified organizational unit.
• Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications including Microsoft Office.
• Position may require travel (10%).
• Position requires active Secret clearance. Must be a United States Citizen.

• Experience with Engineering Change Proposals (ECP) or Engineering Change Proposals Process.
• Experience with Configuration Control Boards (CCB).
• Experience with Fleet Modification Programs (Aviation or Shipboard).
