Job Description:

The Oncology Virtual Account Specialist builds and maintains strong professional relationships with Oncologists in private practice, medical groups practices, hospitals/academic medical centers, office and ancillary staff involved in the care of cancers patients. Uniquely suited to engaging with customers leveraging digital platforms, the OVAS is a clinical and business leader who represents Ipsen’s values by providing approved, disease and product information and resources to key decision makers and stakeholders. The OVAS is accountable for driving Ipsen Oncology portfolio demand to meet sales goals for assigned customers consistent with Ipsen’s compliance standards as well as all applicable legal requirements for Health Care Providers (HCPs).

Main responsibilities / job expectations

  • Virtually represent Ipsen’s Oncology product in the U.S. marketplace.

  • Meet or exceed assigned sales goals by effectively positioning the benefits and use of Ipsen’s products for appropriate patients.

  • 20% of time required in the field for in- person interactions and activities including but not limited to engaging with customers and co-workers

  • Interfaces with customers in person at Congresses and other field events such as Speaker Programs

  • Serve as a Field Trainer ; as the regional subject matter expert on virtual engagement with customers, this role will lead on going training as this new capability evolves across the commercial organization.

  • Act as a vacancy management specialist for local territories to call on customers in person

  • Executes call plans for customers, including medical experts from Customer or Academic communities ; calls on the right person to deliver the right message with the right frequency

  • Ensure timely and seamless communication with account specialist counterparts

  • Invite targeted customers to key programs and other appropriate promotional events

  • Develop and implement robust business plans centered on performance and meet or exceed productivity requirements required by the role.

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers.

  • Represent Ipsen’s Oncology products in a professional, compliant, ethical and effective manner.

  • Show thorough understanding of disease states, Ipsen’s brands and relevant competitor products.

  • Demonstrate high proficiency of the broader reimbursement environment ; possesses a deep understanding of the reimbursement and fulfillment pathways for injectable medications.

  • Exhibit highly effective virtual selling competencies.

  • Effectively use available technology platforms, marketing assets, and multi-channel communications to engage with customers virtually and in person as needed.

  • Execute approved Marketing and Sales virtual promotional materials and programs.

  • Full discretion and management of a budget for virtual engagements with HCPs

  • Highly collaborative with all relevant Ipsen stakeholders including but not limited to ; account planning, pull through efforts, warm handoff/ lead generation of customer engagements, and vacancy coverage as needed.

  • Complies with all laws regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff.

Knowledge, abilities & experience

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.


  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated success in the biopharmaceutical marketplace.

  • Launch experience, especially in Oncology, preferred but not required.

  • Demonstrated strong capability in account management, superior selling competencies and proven sales performance track record of meeting or exceeding goals.

  • Demonstrated strong business analytics to understand and analyze business and market drivers, and develop, execute and adjust customer business plans.

  • Demonstrated skills at building and maintaining professional relationships with key customers, office staff and others in the customer influence network.

  • Work effectively in a matrix environment maintaining collaborative relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Expertise in computer technology and all related digital platforms specific to virtual engagement.
