“This is a temporary (BACO-90) position. This position is only authorized for a period that cannot exceed 90 days from date of entry into Germany.”

AMENTUM has an exciting opportunity in Germany for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Track on the APS-2 contract.

The Mechanic Inspects, cleans, repairs and modifies line replaceable line units (LRU) and other components utilized on combat turret systems of one of the following combat platforms M1, M2 and M109 family vehicles. Identifies isolates, troubleshoots, and repairs malfunctions using appropriate procedures and applicable technical manuals, TMDE, and tools of the turret. Perform maintenance on gas particulate systems, vehicular mounted armament and associated fire control systems. Maintain and/or repair laser range finders, ballistic computers, laser observation devices, laser designators, thermal imaging systems, periscopes, telescopes. Maintain and/or repair commanders weapon station/auxiliary sights, aiming circles, image transfer assemblies, quadrants, mount assemblies, fire control support equipment. Maintain and/or repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. Perform battlefield damage assessment and repair.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.

  1. Troubleshoots and isolates system malfunctions utilizing technical manuals, schematic diagrams, special and standard electronic and mechanical TMDE
  2. Performs corrective maintenance on previously diagnosed malfunctions on fire control systems used in combat vehicles, off-carriage lasers, designators, thermal sights, and night vision devices
  3. Designs, fabricates and adapts tools and fixtures to facilitate further fire control instrument repairs or as new types of fire control equipment is adopted by the Army
  4. May instruct other employees in the proper repair maintenance procedures and capabilities of fire control LRU instruments and TMDE
  5. Performs other duties and assignments as required
  6. Maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate
  7. All APS-2 contractor mechanics are expected to provide their own basic mechanics tool set

Minimum Requirements

Qualification & Experience Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  1. High School graduate or equivalent
  2. Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements
  3. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
  4. Must have the ability to analyze and interpret U.S. Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair
  5. May be required to obtain a military drivers license (OF 346)
  6. Must have a U.S. passport
  7. Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License
  8. Must be a US citizen

Preferred Qualifications

Army MOS 94M/45T Land Combat Electronic System Repairer (LCES) is preferred or a minimum of two years experience.
