What you’ll be doing...

As an International Trade Specialist on our Global Supply Chain team you will be responsible for coordinating the end to end transportation processes, which include interpreting/implementing the import and export licenses requirements for any country where Verizon is shipping internationally, understanding/applying in all logistics processes the US re-export laws under ITAR, EAR, OFAC, Wassenaar Agreement and Anti-boycott Rules, liaising with government agencies, customs brokers, supporting governments export compliance audits and supporting implementation of remedial actions, screening of cross-border transactions against ECCN, HTS, RPL, DPL, and understanding of regulatory requirements for recordkeeping of AWB, POD, SAD/EXA, AWB, EOR1, T1, ATA, DCS.

  • Coordinating the transportation of goods to our customers at international destinations in EMEA, APAC, LATAM and for US imports.
  • Coordinating import/export compliance and logistics related to dual-use as well as encryption globally, with a particular focus on US and Canada imports/exports.
  • Reviewing and applying international shipping contract language, transportation parties’ roles, title transfer and passing of risk.
  • Providing guidance to contract stakeholders, specifically Marketing, Sourcing, Legal and Account Management.
  • Project Managing small/medium size projects with the aim to achieve the overall ILS P&L objectives, cutting costs, introduce efficiencies.
  • Identifying opportunities for efficiency gains within the region to improve logistics/compliance processes, presenting recommendations to Management while proactively developing and initiating solutions/approaches to drive best in class logistics performance.
  • Performing ongoing supplier management to ensure contract terms, conditions and performance management compliance.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.
  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in International Shipping, export compliance, project management, and/or contract negotiations.
  • Experience with data analytics and reporting.
  • Knowledge of international logistics processes, policies, and procedures.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain, Engineering.
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP and/or Trade Automation.
  • Experience in working with import/export documentation and legislation, i.e. order processing and progression, shipping invoices, SAD/EXA, letters of credit, bills of lading, certificates of origin, EUR1 Certificates, customs valuation procedures, customs declaration filing regulations for encrypted / dual-use items.
  • Fluency in another language.
  • Accurate working expertise in US and Canada Imports Compliance regulations, processes and licensing regarding shipments of hazardous goods and dual use, encryption controlled/licensed commodities to BIS standards .
  • Detailed working knowledge of US re-export laws under EAR, ITAR, OFAC, Antiboycott rules, and the Wassenaar Agreement.
  • Experience developing resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity.
  • Strong interpersonal and goal/service skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated /self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in influencing others.
  • Strong issue resolution, negotiation, and project management skills.
