PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As a CP Equipment Operator, you will perform shunt and/or utility/ground person, top-lift operator, PPS general cleaning/labourer duties with reasonable care throughout the terminal. Based on your qualifications and seniority, work will be identified by the Supervisor Operations Intermodal (SOI). This position has no guaranteed minimum hours and may report on a on-call basis when not scheduled. This role requires working shift work, irregular schedules, weekends and some holidays.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Duties assigned may be working as a Top lift operator, ground person/utility, shunter or PPS as assigned;
• Shunting containers/chassis to and from railway flat cars and within the Terminal in support of efficient train operations;
• Shunting containers/chassis to and from locations within the Terminal in support operations and equipment maintenance (including & not limited to: shunting of bad order units that require repair, units in Perishable Protective Service (“PPS” units) that require inspection or fuel, dirty units that require cleaning, and units in support of repositioning, etc. (non-exclusive));
• Shunting shipments to and from co-located customers, adjacent to each Terminal location (non-exclusive);
• Perform inspections (i.e., adequate circle-checks) prior to the handling of container and chassis equipment;
• With any movement within the Terminal or at adjacent customer locations, the chassis locking pins are to be locked and/or unlocked in accordance with CP processes and/or policy;
• Top-Lift operator for loading and unloading containers to or from chassis; to or from railcar, to or from ground, and service drivers that require containers to be taken off or placed onto railcars/ground;
• Utility/Ground person work required to unlock & lock IBC’s (Inner box connectors), which connects the container on the railcar to enable to Top-Lifts to unload or load;
• Setting of Marine and double stack cars to accommodate different size containers;
• Perishable Protective Service (PPS) reefer/heater/fueling/electric set & inspection work;
• Complete work order from OASIS or as per instructions from Supervisor Operation Intermodal (SOI);
• Perform other related duties as specified by the SOI.
• N.B. This is a safety-sensitive position within an environment of heavy equipment and constant traffic flow.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or Ged Equivalent;
• Must possess a valid class 5 or better driver license in good standing;
• Must be Bilingual (English & French);
• 5+ years of direct work experience as mechanic/technician/shunter is an asset;
• Demonstrate advanced reading and writing skills;
• Ability to follow instruction.

OBJET DU POSTE :

En tant qu'employé d’intermodal du CP, vous effectuerez des tâches de manœuvre et/ou utility/personne de cour, d'opérateur de top lift, de nettoyage général de PPS avec un soin raisonnable dans tout le terminal. En fonction de vos qualifications et de votre ancienneté, le travail sera identifié par le Superviseur Opérations Intermodal (SOI). Ce poste n'a pas d'heures minimales garanties et peut se rapporter sur appel lorsqu'il n'est pas prévu. Ce rôle nécessite des quarts de travail, des horaires irréguliers, des fins de semaine et certains jours fériés.

RESPONSABILITÉS DU POSTE D'EMPLOYÉ SUPPLÉMENTAIRE :

• Les tâches assignées peuvent être celles d'opérateur de TopLift, de personne du cour/utility, shunter ou de PPS tel qu'assigné ;

• Acheminer les conteneurs/châssis vers et aux wagons plats de chemin de fer et à l'intérieur du terminal à l'appui de l'exploitation efficace des trains ;

• Acheminement des conteneurs/châssis vers et aux emplacements au sein du terminal dans le cadre des opérations d'assistance et de la maintenance des équipements (y compris et sans s'y limiter : l'acheminement des unités en mauvais état qui nécessitent une réparation, les unités du service de protection périssable (unités PPS) qui nécessitent une inspection ou du carburant, unités sales qui nécessitent un nettoyage, et unités d'aide au repositionnement, etc. (non exclusif));

• Acheminer les expéditions vers et aux les clients localisés, adjacents à chaque emplacement du terminal (non exclusif) ;

• Effectuer des inspections (ie : des rondes de sécurité adéquates) avant la manipulation de l'équipement des conteneurs et des châssis ;

• Lors de tout mouvement à l'intérieur du Terminal ou sur des emplacements clients adjacents, les goupilles de verrouillage du châssis doivent être verrouillées et/ou déverrouillées conformément aux processus et/ou à la politique du CP ;

• Opérateur Top-Lift pour le chargement et le déchargement des conteneurs vers le châssis ; vers le wagon, vers le sol, et les chauffeurs de service qui exigent que les conteneurs soient retirés ou placés sur les wagons/au sol.

• Travail utilitaire/personne au cour requis pour déverrouiller et verrouiller les IBC (connecteurs de boîte intérieure), qui relient le conteneur sur le wagon pour permettre Top-Lift de décharger ou de charger.

• Mise en place de wagons marins et doubles pour accommoder des conteneurs de différentes tailles.

• Service de protection périssable (PPS) frigorifique/réchauffeur/ensemble de ravitaillement/électrique et travail d'inspection.

• Remplir le bon de travail d'OASIS ou selon les instructions du superviseur des opérations intermodales (SOI).

• Effectuer d'autres tâches telles que spécifiées par le SOI.

• N.B. Il s'agit d'un poste sensible à la sécurité dans un environnement d'équipement lourd et de circulation constante.

EXIGENCES DU POSTE :

• Doit posséder un permis de conduire valide de classe 5 ou supérieure en règle;

• Bilingue en anglais et français;

• Diplôme d'études secondaires ou diplôme d'équivalence générale ou expérience antérieure en IMS ;

• 5+ années d'expérience de travail directe en tant que mécanicien/technicien/shunter est un atout;

• Démontrer des compétences avancées en lecture et en écriture;

• Capacité à suivre les instructions ;
