PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As a remote sensing / GIS specialist, you will be responsible for Post processing and maintaining Remote sensor field collected data to support various business units within Canadian Pacific’s Operations and Engineering departments.

You will come up with ideas for maximizing the values of CP’s field collected data investments and delivering on them. In addition, you will discover, produce and support tools to streamline processing and extraction of information as well as prepare the data for GIS applications in an agile methodology, thereby delivering incremental value in a very short duration.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Create innovative cutting-edge customer-centric remote sensing / GIS solutions for use by the business;
  • Ensure all field collected data is processed correctly, using the proper coordinate system; is free of data gaps, and all associated calibration files exist and are applied correctly;
  • Work with CP Business partners coordinating the delivery of data and extraction processing tasks;
  • Work closely with the GIS team and perform QC (Quality Control) of the extracted vector data from the field collected data;
  • Use modern GIS tools to help QC and initiate manual corrections when needed;
  • Create seamless runs based on geographic segments of the LiDAR and 360° Camera;
  • Work with OrthoImagery;
  • Work with Remote sensing information from fixed truck and air imagery/LiDAR
  • Play a very strong hands-on role in the implementation of the GIS platform in an organization that has firmly adopted agile project management processes;
  • Closely integrate with GIS with other business systems, both custom and other vendors;
  • Provide technical support and maintenance for GIS Enterprise related services specific to the Remote sensing information from field.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, GIS, Engineering, Science or equivalent practical experience;
  • Experience with various software tools such as OpTech, LMS, LynxSurvey and/or TerraSolid
  • Knowledge of principles, concepts, practices, techniques and tools in the areas of LiDAR, 360° Ladybug cameras and High resolution Planar Cameras;
  • GIS Concepts (i.e. Coordinate Systems, Projections);
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

  • LiDAR – Orbit GT – Data Management and Desktop Extraction tools
  • Similar LiDAR Exploring software suites (TopoDot / TerraSolid)
  • LiDAR – Orbit GT – Publishing Server
  • GIS – ESRI products (Desktop)
  • A.I. – Deep Learning Modules (spatial)
