Job Description

Our Market Access team monitors population demographics and develop solutions to give patients access to our medicines. We act as both educators and advocates for our products, processes, and practices that help us revolutionize how our medicines create value in society.

We are looking for an Executive Director, Market Access for our Kenilworth, PA location to serve as Executive Director for the Latin America Access Strategy as part of our Global Human Health Division. Lead a team of Access Strategy Directors while partnering with regional functional leaders (marketing, CORE, Policy and Medical) and country operations to ensure the successful execution of the access strategy consistent with the global integrated business plan for critical assets within the our oncology, vaccines, chronic care and acute care portfolio. Have a forward-looking strategic view of the overall reimbursement & access landscape across the region, including emerging trends in HTA assessment, reference pricing, group purchasing or procurement and tendering. Develop/maintain personal involvement in governmental or professional/non-governmental organizations within the region that are focused on pricing, reimbursement, access, and healthcare trends in the region. The Regional Market Access Leader reports to the Associate Vice President, Global Access Strategy and is also a member of the Latin America Regional Leadership Team.

The primary activities include but are not limited to:

  • Align Market Access business priorities and deliverables with LA regional leadership

  • With the Integrated Team, identify the plan and critical enablers for each Access business priority/deliverable

  • Establish and lead a process to drive and track progress through to achieving each Access business priority/deliverable

  • Participate as a proactive member of the LA Leadership team

  • Liaise with the global market access teams representing the LA region and to lead execution of the global access strategy for priority products

  • Lead a team of 4 direct reports who are individually responsible for managing therapeutic areas

  • Developing a thorough understanding of the policy objectives, health priorities, and planned initiatives of governments throughout the region, insofar as they may impact on access for our products, together with the PCPH hub

  • Closely collaborate with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Policy and CORE colleagues within the region to deliver the global integrated business plan for each priority products

  • Build world-class Access capabilities in the region, and partner with the MD’s to build world-class access capabilities in each country in the region. Ensure recruitment and development of top talent. Partner with L&D and other stakeholders to deliver multi-pronged approaches to raise the bar on executional excellence; building the pricing, access and health economic capabilities of affiliates as required to support the value and access strategy, including through initiatives such as the Access University

  • Ensure alignment of local data generation studies proposals and strategy, consistent with country value demonstration requirements, working closely with CORE and Medical Affairs

  • Build and maintain a deep understanding of the payer landscape across the region, including barriers and opportunities

  • Supporting internal communications on market access issues in the LA region

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health policy, health economics, or related field. Must have 10+ years of experience with market access, health economics, outcomes research, or pricing, in the pharmaceutical industry.

Experience must include the following:

  • Working at a senior management level

  • Working in a global strategy role involving assessment and understanding of health systems

  • Executing successful access strategies in Latin America, leading country implementation

  • Working with key internal and external stakeholders within the LA region

  • Navigating the market access environment; demonstrating the ability to identify optimal routes to reimbursement, consistent with the global strategy, in a rapidly evolving market access landscape and helping develop and address any country requirements for HTA and/or tender processes

  • Interpreting information across customers to influence external decision makers with the ultimate goal of understanding and taking better care of patients

  • Leveraging networks and information across digital, access, CORE, policy, and marketing

  • Understanding of the research and development process and milestones and the market access evidence requirements needed during each stage gate decision

  • Building future leaders and engaging a diverse multi-generational workforce

  • Prioritizing and making resource trade-offs across the portfolio

  • Synthesizing and integrating strategic information from across commercial functions

Will be required to travel extensively (approximately 40% of the time) throughout the Latin America region.
