Job Description

Attention NJ Applicants: In April 2020, our Company announced plans to consolidate our New Jersey campuses into a single New Jersey headquarters location in Rahway, NJ by 2023. Therefore, the NJ work location for this role will be temporarily based and the exact timing of the departmental move to Rahway, NJ will be communicated at a future date.

The Executive Director, Precision Medicine, Global Oncology Marketing (ED) is responsible for the development and execution of Commercial Digital Diagnostics & Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy and supporting initiatives to identify patients eligible for oncology treatment; leading all strategic Diagnostics Commercial (Business) Development; as well as leading key strategic initiatives in the Precision Medicine organization. The Executive Director will be responsible for establishing new commercial competency & approaches in Digital Diagnostics & Artificial Intelligence (AI) to secure better, faster and more accurate patient identification. The Executive Director will be responsible for providing commercial leadership & strategic assessment of market opportunities & possibilities for development of Digital Diagnostics & Artificial Intelligence solutions. The Executive Director will also be leading all Diagnostics Commercial (Business) Development including business case generation, Diagnostics partner assessment, negotiation, finalizing agreements, Diagnostics partner management etc. within the area of Precision Medicine.

The Executive Director will lead a team and will work with all functions in Research and Development (R&D), Global Human Health (GHH) & Regional teams, Legal & Compliance as well as external stakeholders and collaborators.

The role requires a proven track record in leadership and development of strategy, thinking laterally and shaping of Diagnostics solutions in a constantly changing business environment. Strategic vision, strategy creation, execution, strong financial understanding/acumen are imperative skills to the success of the role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall development and execution of Commercial Digital Diagnostics & Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy and supporting initiatives to identify patients eligible for oncology treatment, including but not limited to partner/technology assessments, segmentation and positioning, market research, market access etc. Establish core competency in Digital Diagnostics & AI.

  • Lead all strategic Diagnostics Commercial (Business) Development covering different technologies including Digital Diagnostics & AI, hereunder Diagnostics business case generation, Diagnostics partner assessment, negotiation, finalizing agreements, Diagnostics partner management etc.

  • Lead key strategic initiatives in the Precision Medicine organization, hereunder the long term Precision Medicine Strategy together with corporate functions.

  • Partner with Global Disease Leaders (GDLs) & Global Business Leaders (GBLs) to ensure alignment of Digital Diagnostics & AI strategies and efforts to the overall drug commercialization strategies.

  • Provide commercial leadership in collaborating with Product Development Teams (PDT), Joint Commercialization Committees (JCC), Joint Steering Committees (JSC), Diagnostic Development Teams (DxDT), Diagnostic Leadership Team (DxLT) etc.

  • Collaborate and align with diagnostic partners on commercialization strategy, messaging, tactics etc.

  • Work with internal cross-functional partners including R&D, Medical Affairs, Alliance Management, Market Access, Finance, Market Research, Communications, Business Development & Licensing, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, etc. to deliver timely availability tests in the market

  • Ability to drive, lead and manage through organizational change and periods of ambiguity and with a willingness to challenge the status quo

  • Proven management of talent across different cultures, backgrounds, languages, and seniorities


  • Bachelors Degree required

  • Masters degree (MSc, PhD, and/or MBA) strongly preferred

Required Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 8 years of industry experience (pharma + diagnostics) is required, including at least 2 years of pharma experience and at least 2 years of biomarker/diagnostics experience

  • Extensive experience in diagnostic and pharma oncology marketing

  • Solid understanding of Diagnostics deal valuation and construction within a broad range of diagnostic technologies, hereunder Digital Diagnostics & Artificial Intelligence, etc.

  • Significant entrepreneurial, result oriented, analytical, problem solving, collaborative skills

  • Experience in working within heavily matrixed organizations, with diagnostic & pharma business partners, and with senior management

  • Strong prioritization and decision-making skills with the ability to understand how the decisions fit into the broader context of corporate strategies

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor, lead and provide clear unambiguous expectations and priorities for the team

  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, collaboration and communication skills

  • 30% Travel, Domestic and/or International, including some weekends

Position Location: Kenilworth, NJ or Upper Gwynedd, PA with HYBRID work model (combination of in-office and work from home ability).
