Maintains and analyzes accounting information for management purposes including developing manual and automated accounting applications based on the need for financial management information.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, directs, guides and monitors the creation and maintenance of all ledgers, cash and bank registers, subsidiary accounting records, journals, logbooks, financial statements, health finance report, and various fiscal reports according to monthly close schedule
  • Assists independent auditors with interim and yearend financial audits. Assists with preparation of tax returns, tax audits, and other corporate reporting requirements
  • Identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems. Solves moderately complex problems and conducts moderately complex analyses
  • Provide explanations and information to others on difficult issues, translating concepts into practice
  • Reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information and calculations and makes or directs correcting entries
  • Acts as a resource for others with less experience
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (or accounting experience in lieu of a degree)
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Knowledge of research techniques for analyzing data and presenting recommendations
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations, and compute ratios/percentages accurately and quickly
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance. Preferred Qualifcations:

  • Experience in a healthcare or health plan environment
  • PeopleSoft experience
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance, seeking guidance on only the most complex tasks

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to push or pull heavy objects using up to 50 pounds of force
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and/or machinery
  • Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing
  • Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
