This opportunity is for Military personnel who are current participants of Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 3-2021. At Verizon, we are building a world-class Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization. We have begun a comprehensive program to streamline processes, improve systems, realign the organization and add opportunities for personal skill-building and professional growth. We’re finding new ways to add value and provide strategic support. This is the kind of work we do. The Business Unit facing positions offer opportunities to drive better business partnering and insights, while growing your FP&A leadership and interpersonal skills. You are considered a business partner and your contributions will make a difference. You’ll become involved in, but not limited to, pricing decisions and new initiatives to develop new products and services. You can have an impact on new business growth opportunities through development of business case scenarios. You will be part of the Global Technology Solutions (GTS) - FP&A team supporting the Verizon Business Group (VBG) organization.

  • Partner with business clients to understand how GTS supports the VBG organization. Work in a cross functional team to communicate key financial drivers in VBG.
  • Assist in preparing the financial plan, forecast, reporting and analysis for VBG which includes:
    • Business Plan
    • Commitment View
    • Best View
  • Analysis, distribution and recommendations for management reviews
  • Prepare final monthly analyses of business trends and budget variance of financial results and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to be used in management reviews and strategic business analysis sessions.
  • Partner with business clients and FP&A to perform in-depth analysis of the business performance and recommend action plans; including gap closures, considerations for managing cost, etc.
  • Develop final capital planning models, reports and templates.
  • Conduct the development of strategic business analysis with overlays and commentary.
  • Create final performance reports, including business insights, ad-hoc analysis and recommendations to executive management.
  • Proactively identify possible scenarios, risks and opportunities around business performance.
  • Model/assess performance scenarios to analyze risks and opportunities.
  • Communicate with partners in a clear and concise manner.
  • Exercise judgement and business acumen in reviewing and approving contracts, purchase orders, and other third party commitments, ensuring alignment with budget and strategic objectives, as well as compliance with Company policy and GAAP.
  • Leverage and maximize the Verizon FP&A COE.
    • Function as a liaison to other Verizon Finance groups (e.g.VCG, Corporate Finance, COE, etc.) on all financial matters pertaining to VBG.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Must be a current participant of Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 3-2021.
  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • A high degree of analytical capability
  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently, delivering quality results under significant time constraints and critical deadlines.
  • Strong strategic skills, with the proven ability to identify and assess key points, implications and recommendations.
  • Experience leading and working in large and complex team projects with minimal direct supervision.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Google applications (Sheets, Slides and Docs).

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • The proven ability to structure business case around a high-level strategic vision.
  • Experience with, and working knowledge of enterprise: financial systems; budgeting/planning software applications; and business intelligence systems.
  • Experience with financial management.
  • Knowledge of Digital Finance applications/tools (e.g. Visualization, Data Analytics, RPA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of financial planning and reporting & analysis, methodologies and processes.
  • Knowledge of common business and cost drivers, financial statement analysis, and deep-dive analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
