Fueled by the Verizon 5G future, the New Business Incubation team is anchored in Verizon’s Corporate Strategy organization with a mission to scale new software automation businesses fueled by the power of the 5G future. This unique charter, paired with the strength of Verizon’s best-in-class network, broad customer base and massive technological capabilities, puts the New Business Incubation team at the forefront of innovation as we embark on the 5G future.

Comprised of passionate and forward-thinking leaders, the New Business Incubation team includes ecosystem builders and industry experts in location technology, robotics, digital twins, fleet management, energy transformation, industrial IoT and other emergent technologies. With a belief that the autonomous future sits at the intersection of intelligent networking, devices and software, the team is working to shepherd customers through their digitization journeys to enable the connection, management and operation of physical and digital elements needed for the Industry 4.0 future. The combination of these technologies will transform Industry to deliver new levels of efficiency, intelligence and business outcomes in productivity, experiences and safety.

As a Manager, Strategic Finance within Verizon’s New Business Incubation, you will be a critical finance resource for Verizon’s emerging software businesses. This individual will provide modeling and analytical support for business planning, deal execution, and ad-hoc strategic projects including M&A deals, BD partnership deals, and other projects critical to the business. This role reports to the Director, Strategic Planning and Finance, and includes purview over a portfolio of 5G-based software initiatives and ongoing investments Verizon has made in robotics, location services, sensor intelligence, and other high growth technologies adjacent to Verizon’s core business. Working in close collaboration with other groups internally and externally, you will develop, launch, and manage financial models and institute policies and practices to support data-driven strategic planning and insights to deliver improved financial performance.

This role sits at the intersection of strategy, business planning, and operations, within a business that is heavily focused on ‘scalability, productivity, and profitability’. We are looking for a finance leader who is flexible and adaptable and can help grow Verizon NBI during the most significant technological advancement of the decade in telecom, 5G.

Key duties include:

• Collaborating internally with NBI leaders and cross-functionally with other Verizon groups to make data-driven decisions through detailed financial modeling.
• Providing financial support for M&A transactions by creating business cases with pro forma financial projections and vetting assumptions with key stakeholders.
• Providing financial support for strategic partnerships and go-to-market activities within NBI’s lines of business.
• Providing financial support for the product org to build financial forecasts, budgets and analyze deal viability.
• Establishing and implementing processes and policies to install best practices for financial modeling and reporting on financial and operational performance.
• Build processes and capabilities for ‘beyond number’s storytelling relating to NBI’s Portfolio and BU level financial and operational performance.
• Implementation and measurement of business targets (financial and operational) – KPI’s/OKR’s.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Six or more years of investment banking, management / strategy consulting, relevant corporate (strategic planning, corporate finance, business development) or equivalent/related functional experience.
• Experience modeling complex financial scenarios to drive business and investment decisions.
• Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• An MBA.
• Experience in technology and software.
• Experience in B2B products and services.
• Experience in strategic finance and business case development.
• Certifications in FP&A and/or related field.
• Fantastic interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
