The R&ED Finance Senior Manager is a key financial position in the R&D Finance organization with strong business partnering in multiple divisions. This position will support the various R&ED divisions in operational aspects, analysis, contract management and tracking, financial planning & analysis (FP&A) as well as assisting the Associate Director, in multiple special projects.

The role includes managing financial processes (e.g., Budget, Projection, Monthly Close, Reporting, and Control remediation), partnering with divisional leadership teams, supporting development of the Strategic Plan, interacting with selective integration partners, and providing financial analysis support on critical strategic initiatives.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Manage Financial Reporting & Analysis processes

  • Supervise and/or perform monthly close process activities across R&ED to ensure financials are reported in accordance with US GAAP

  • Thorough financial analytics and business operations understanding to explain results to management and develop recommendations to improve performance

  • Manage contract reviews; Partner with Procurement to develop and manage third party agreements with strategic vendors, consolidate value capture submissions for R&ED

  • Partner with CFR and Technical Accounting to understand accounting issues and their disposition, when necessary

  • Partner with Global Capital Equipment Team to ensure proper accounting, reporting and analysis of lab equipment purchases

  • Partner with HR on headcount planning, reporting and restructuring activities. Facilitate R&ED headcount reporting initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with SOX 404 internal control requirements and support audit remediation

Provide support and guidance to the operations teams

  • Partner with the operations teams, protocol managers and CSRO team to monitor, review BOW’s and approve cost plans in Eclipse for R&ED

  • Partner with the operations team to monitor the spend related to Innovation Grants and other Project spend; Assist in management of purchase orders

Manage projection and budget processes

  • Assist and develop detailed operating budget and projections to guide resource planning and allocation as needed throughout R&ED

  • Understanding of all financial systems used during this process (SAP, Hyperion, SPA)

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, CPA or MBA preferred

  • Minimum 5-7 Years of financial experience of increasing responsibility in relevant financial roles, including auditing, consulting, financial planning & analysis

  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively in a highly matrixed organization

  • Strong analytical, quantitative and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload

  • Experience working with multiple levels of management with competing demands on time and resources

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or MBA preferred or relevant experience

  • R&D related financial experience preferred
