Position Description:

Reporting into the Finance Director, External Manufacturing (ExM), and supporting Global Vaccines Operations (GVO), the Associate Director, Finance will manage ongoing and new ExM Vaccines relationships, including in-line and pipeline products. The incumbent will provide financial guidance and advice to ExM leadership and Focus Factory teams supporting many aspects of supplier relationships, including: Vendor selection, contract negotiation & review, risk assessments, savings calculations, financial controls, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. The position will also coordinate ExM activities with several other cross-functional areas including: GVO Finance, procurement, legal, logistics, tax, treasury, network finance and accounting standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Implement and oversee financial reporting and controls associated with ExM Vaccines relationships which support our company’s products.

  • ExM relationship terms and conditions can vary significantly, therefore the incumbent will need to study and understand specifics of numerous agreements.

  • Manage various aspects of new ExM relationships through collaboration with finance, operations, business development and network stakeholders. This may include activities such as due diligence, standard costing, entity structure set up, and inventory reconciliation mechanisms, as well as understanding and applying “true-up” mechanisms included in contracts.

  • Review and provide feedback on supplier awards prior to presentation to External Manufacturing Leadership Team and Global Sourcing Committee.

  • Monitor financial strength of suppliers and liaise with Procurement to assess solvency and supply risk.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly results, forecasts and other reports for use by our manufacturing division and Corporate management. Preparation of these reports requires a comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing accounting policies, procedures and cost systems.

  • Take a significant role in the annual Budget and LROP process.

  • Coordinate tracking of various productivity programs and initiatives.

  • Develop and recommend new and/or improved methods, plans, policies and changes in present practices for the purpose of accumulating, reporting and controlling costs. This includes searching out opportunities and ideas for cost reductions and other efficiencies through analysis of financial and measurement data.

  • Support digital solution implementations as necessary. Identify dashboards, reports and analyses that can be completed using a digital solution as opposed to current excel workbooks.

  • Prepare financial analysis: cash flows, NPV, income statements, balance sheets.

  • Provide finance support for any other ad hoc issues that may develop.

  • Visit suppliers if necessary, therefore international travel may be required.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • BS/BA required, preferably in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Around 5-7 years of demonstrated experience in an accounting, finance or forecasting related role.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, negotiation, and problem solving

  • Demonstrated ability to act in a business partnership role, advising, guiding, influencing

  • Ability to lead through change and ambiguity

  • Good knowledge of systems (e.g. Excel, Powerpoint, SAP, PowerBI or other analytical tools)

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in a manufacturing or cost accounting related role.

  • A minimum of 1 years of project management related experience.


  • Demonstrated leadership, team building/people management abilities and sensitivity to diverse cultures.

  • Ability to work independently and be decisive in ambiguous environment

  • Excellent data analytics required alongside ability to take an assumptions-based approach.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong influencing skills; Ability to challenge and drive results
