What you’ll be doing...

  • Reviewing and advising on new and existing consumer products and services, including financial related services.
  • Providing day-to-day support for the product development teams.
  • Reviewing of new product offerings and changes to existing consumer products, including mobile apps and service platforms.
  • Developing positive relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinating internally and externally among different client organizations, subject matter experts, legal and other groups in addressing product related issues, including educating and training employees.
  • Coordinating with business, legal, external affairs and other groups to ensure effective advocacy of product strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with existing policies, federal and state laws and regulations and assisting in formulation of solutions to any identified problem areas exposing company to risk.
  • Drafting and reviewing product terms of service, trial agreements, license agreements, FAQs, technical requirements, customer care and training scripts as well as product marketing collateral and advertising copy.
  • Advising on customer and partner contract issues.
  • Assessing legislative or regulatory developments with actual or potential impact on key product initiatives and strategies.

This role may be considered as part of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program.

What we’re looking for...

Verizon seeks an energetic, creative, business-oriented attorney to join its legal team supporting Verizon’s Consumer Products Group organization. The ideal candidate will be a team player with significant legal experience developing and launching consumer-focused products and services. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated good judgment, and a proven track record of advising clients in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You’ll need to have:

  • JD degree and six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Bar membership and needed licenses.
  • Good standing in at least one state.
  • Experience as a practicing attorney at a large law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Experience handling regulatory and legal issues relating to consumer credit card, lending, installment sales and/or other financial products and services.
  • Experience in the financial services, fintech or credit card industry, including in the area of compliance, payments and card processing.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Knowledge and experience with federal and state consumer protection laws, regulations and general consumer protection issues.
  • Knowledge andexperience inhandling insurance regulatory work.
  • Strong project management skills with experienceinmanaging complex projects from inception to completion
  • Team management skills.
  • Strong analytical reasoning skills, report analysis and keen attention to detail and processes.
  • Business knowledge and confident decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, motivational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to appropriately balance legal and business risks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
