The Carrier Sourcing Manager will plan, manage, and oversee day-to-day carrier sourcing efforts, responsible for all regional carrier management functions from carrier selection and implementation to continuous improvement and performance management. This includes leading a team of sourcing specialists dedicated to building long-term carrier relationships, negotiating pricing agreements with carriers, managing carrier performance, and leading regional RFP initiatives.


Responsibilities

Act as the liaison between carrier operations management and ALS associates and partner with all business functions.

Lead and direct business reviews with carriers, including corrective action plans and overall performance monitoring (KPIs, safety, claims, etc.). Hold all parties accountable for volume commitments to awarded lanes.

Drive results through historical data collection and market trend analytics, leading to actionable processes and metrics; identify new ways to reduce overall freight expense by reviewing transportation methods.

Participate in the improvement and optimization process. Suggest and implement freight recovery and optimization actions.

Expand carrier base while reducing cost per mile, driving improvements regionally and nationally while achieving the best-in-class performance results.

Oversee the site search and filter programs to ensure accurate and complete carrier results.

Research feedback from all available resources (and utilize the information to optimize and improve KPI metrics.

Make employment decisions and recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.

Coordinate and manage employees’ work by directing team members to meet the area’s goals. Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.

Manage employee performance and assist employees in improving performance through coaching, mentoring, and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and implement employee training and skill development activities.

Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.

Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities.

Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods, and materials.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
