Network Domain Architect

Leidos currently has an opening on the Navy Service Management, Integration and Transport’ (SMIT) Contract for a Domain Architect responsible for the Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN). This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience and leadership skills to successfully execute the mission of the Navy’s largest IT services program: SMIT. To date, Leidos support to the Marine Corps has consisted of providing staff augmentation to the Operations of the MCEN environment. Leidos is expanding its footprint on the contract to support MCEN IST&C for the Engineering and Service Delivery of new and modernized network capabilities.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate professionalism and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and mission-focused environment. This position is highly focused on the Marine Corps Enterprise Network environment that requires business acumen, a rich technical skillset in Architecture, Systems Engineering, IP Networking, MPLS, SD-WAN, SD-LAN, Type 1 Network Encryption, Unified Communications, Cloud Networking, and Service Delivery. This position requires highly qualified individuals already possessing an active US DoD TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The MCEN Network Domain Architect is responsible for:
  • Applying Transport Network Subject Matter Expertise (SME) and thought leadership to the execution of the Marine Corps network mission.
  • Demonstrating Subject Matter Expertise, knowledge and application of DoD and Marine Corps network policies and directives.
  • Collaborating with teams to conduct trade studies/analyses of alternatives that support network architecture concepts for software and hardware, including designing, developing, and analyzing products and capabilities.
  • Identifying Transport Networking technologies and solution roadmaps to improve mission enterprise capabilities resulting in increased contract growth and improved customer experience.
  • Participating in the Leidos SMIT Engineering Review Board
  • Collaborating with other Domain Architects in cases of capability overlap
  • Collaborating with teams to develop Network Transformation approaches.
  • Providing subject matter expertise into new business:
    • Reviewing plans, iterating requirements and addressing questions with the customer to achieve requirements lock prior to RFP release to Leidos.
    • Developing and/or Reviewing statements of work for Sub-Contractors
    • Executing and/or overseeing system engineering and architecture tasks
    • Reviewing and providing inputs to proposal documentation
    • Researching and presenting technologies that improve user experience.
  • Providing technical guidance and oversight to the Engineering Team:
    • Provide guidance related to the integration of engineered systems into the existing environment.
    • Provide system function information to Assessment and Authorization for system accreditation.
      • Package Diagrams, SEISA/A&A Plans, etc…
    • Resolve technical conflicts for system integration.
    • Provide Lab guidance for minimal viable products to ensure appropriate testing of systems and system interfaces.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred in STEM or relevant field, or comparable experience with an additional 20 years or a Master of Science degree with 15 years of overall related experience.
  • Exceptional technical writing, and oral communications, and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to junior engineers, non-technical managers, and customers.
  • Design and implementation experience with SD-WAN, SD-Access, Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center), Cisco Identity Services Engine, Cisco Cloud Services/Virtual Routers, Azure Networking, VMware ESXi, and VCenter.
  • Experience using military (DISA) and commercial internet as transport for fixed and tactical infrastructure, to include the integration of networks while ensuring customer’s security and redundancy requirements are met.
  • Expert knowledge of network architecture, security boundaries/technologies, and encryption technologies (Government Type 1 and Commercial Solutions for Classified)
  • In-depth understanding of TCP/IP networking, ports, protocols, and the OSI model, with an emphasis on networking and network security.
  • Ability to conduct advanced technical analysis to provide solutions for network optimization and redundancy within compliance with DISA STIGs.
  • Experience presenting to client stakeholders and company management.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% including the potential for OCONUS travel.

Although remote, the position requires ability of candidate to travel locally to a MCEN facility to access the customer’s network and attend customer meetings as necessary. Site locations Include: Washington, DC/NOVA, Norfolk, VA, or San Diego, CA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Applicable recent experience with the Enterprise level of the Marine Corps Enterprise Network, processes, and procedures.
  • 20+ years of IT experience in multiple technical disciplines within DoD environment
  • Advanced Agile or ITIL certifications.
  • Information Assurance Technical (IAT) III and Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level III certifications highly desired such as CISSP, CASP+, etc…
  • Applicable Domain-Specific, Advanced-level Technology certification such as CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, etc…
  • Understanding of Marine Air Ground Task Force communications and their unique requirements to include their integration into joint networks.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
