Job Description

Leidos’ Health Solutions is seeking a Sr Communications Specialist

This work can be completed remotely with the ability to attend key meetings with the customer in the DC office.

Local candidates preferred or within a two hour radius.

Sr Communications Specialist will also be responsible for:

  • Developing and writing the annual Strategic Communications plan to include coordinating input from other departments, project teams, and the Service Desk.
  • Manage the execution of the strategic communications plan to include oversight of the development of key messages and ensure that a tactical plan and editorial calendars in place for all communication platforms, which includes but not limited to Intranet, email, and Slack.
  • Developing content, editing input from other departments, and overseeing publishing of newsletter materials. This includes editorial content selection, production schedule, assigning writing duties, and all other related production scheduling for the quarterly newsletter.
  • Activities include establishing the editorial calendar that aligns messaging with themes from ARPA-H and ensuring that all deadlines are met.
  • Ability to edit documents, presentations, and communications. Must have experience in editing narrative and graphic products to identify and correct grammatical formatting and logic errors and to identify logical inconsistencies that will require author attention. Must have experience in meeting with authors and other team representatives to review documents, compile inputs/corrections, resolve incompatible comments, and provide final publishable documentation. Must have experience in explaining in simple language scientific and technical ideas that are difficult for the average reader to understand.
  • Assisting with the creation of training videos (shooting, editing and producing videos).
  • This includes scripting and producing video messages that align with the ARPA-H ITDI Strategic Plan
  • Lead department representative for website redesign committee. This includes collaborating with knowledge management department to develop site hierarchy and tag all content with meta-data tags for Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
  • Writing and managing content for inclusion on the customer’s Intranet page.
  • Articulating the value or purpose of technical software products to non-technical users in a non-technical matter that gets users excited about using the products.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or equivalent with 6 yrs. experience, 10+ years related work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge of current issues of interest in medicine and national high-impact health solutions, and the ability to analyze local aspects/impact.
    Prior experience or significant experience working with DHHS agencies in the medical health field strongly preferred.
  • Requires US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $61,750.00 - $111,625.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
