**Description:****This position can be based from any of the following locations:**+ **Reading, PA**+ **Dearborn, MI**+ **Beachwood, OH**+ **Atlanta, GA.****POSITION SUMMARY:****The General Manager (International) role focuses on the primary areas outlined below:**** Develop Strategic and Tactical plans that will expand Penskes presence in the Global marketplace**** Develop and maintain a client pipeline that drives organizational growth.**** Partnership with Penske Europe**** Support and drive growth within the Brokerage business unit**** Ability to secure steamship direct pricing.**** International Internal Administration**** Develop a World Class team of associates that supports our long-term growth strategies.**** Understand the competitive landscape and align resources to grow.****Operations:**** Oversee and develop operations teams to support growth, profitability levels and make necessary recommendations on when to expand the team based on projections on new or on boarded signed business.**** Document operational process flows for current and future state customers/shippers.****a. Create documented processes (SOPs) for International shipping. Develop SOP for what documents are needed for particular shipping origin/destinations, these should be country specific****b. Be familiar with regional air and ocean freight laws and requirements**** Overall responsibility of training creation execution and ensuring training curriculum has been established and administered to Penske International Staff.**** Balance people/ staffing needs against revenue generated in the department**** Educate International Sales staff and customers to set realistic shipping expectations**** Ensure associates are using the proper contracts, carriers, negotiated rates with steamship lines and airlines, making cost effective decisions. Confirm and monitor that staff are looking at the needs of the customer for the most cost effective and time efficient transport of the freight.****Sales:**** Meet or exceed International business targets that are set monthly measured on revenue and profitability.**** Establish International Business Strategy and present to Director of Brokerage**** Balance people/ staffing needs against revenue generated in the department****a. Continually review P&L health on a monthly basis to determine equipment/resource needs and staffing needs or constraints**** Develop and grow International Sales team****a. Review current processes, develop strategy alongside business plan, provide clear action items to Director of Brokerage on growth plans**** Focus on growing US Export / Import customer base in both ocean and air freight****a. Focus on developing customers in niche markets, raw materials, consumer product goods, heavy manufacturing /construction, Pharmaceuticals, etc.****b.Build Relationship with airlines, steamship lines, customs partners, cold chain requirements, and local ground shipping carriers to handle niche product shipping needs throughout shipping lifecycle****Internal Administrative Responsibilities**** Keeping international compliant with US and International transportation laws and licenses**** Compliance expectations vetting international customs brokers (authorization of appropriate customs clearance licenses)**** Compliance of Known shipper list (KSMS) this position will require overall responsibilities to ensure that each physical location has been cleared by the government as a known shipping location. This position would collaborate with operations to ensure these rules are being followed**** Maintain NVOCC license/certification with reporting and proper documentation for necessary audits****a. This role should perform Internal audits and corrective action with reviewing documentation should be internally reviewed on a monthly basis****b. Hold 1:1 meetings with key leads and document your expectations and their performance to your vison and international strategy.**** Ensure the Managers are documenting the performance, or lack of performance with their associates.****a. Take corrective action when needed to ensure department performance.**** Consistent and clear Communication to ensure timely responsiveness**** Financially focused towards managing the assigned P&L & revenue growth for your brokerage region or territories.**** Actively reviewing their P&L on a monthly basis to monitor financial trends, internal overhead expenses, headcount, T&E, supplies/equipment expenses.**** Engage Brokerage Leadership prior to the end of the month if they foresee any significant impacts to their P&L****Partnership with Penske Europe:**** Leverage functional expertise to assist Penske Logistics and Penske Brokerage teams by answering questions relative to international shipping as subject matter expert.**** Participate in ad hoc meetings with new or existing customer to develop understanding of changing business requirements.****Deliverables to Penske Brokerage:**** International weekly updates to cover sales and operations updates to be sent to Director of Brokerage, VP Freight Management and SVP Operations****Ad-Hoc Projects/Assignments as requested by manager or leadership:**** This could include but is not limited to:****Expectation of maintaining all required Licenses.****Qualifications:****QUALIFICATIONS:****-** 10 years leading International Sales & Operations teams. Including multi-site locations- 10 years of successful P&L management in the Ocean, Air, Forwarding & Expedited sector.- Strong process improvement, problem solving and financial skills.- Executive level account management & relationship skills.- Strong product and marketplace knowledge- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.**Physical Requirements:**-The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
