POSITION SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the position is to operate heavy trucks, heavy truck equivalents, and smaller equipment for base operations support of the USAF Academy project site. The incumbent is to perform Heavy Truck functions such as, but not limited to:

  • Efficiently operate heavy trucks, heavy truck equivalents, and smaller equipment, but not limited to: dump trucks/dump trucks with attachments, asphalt rollers, forklifts.
  • Operates such equipment as required, including but not limited to the following activities in various types of terrain (dirt, snow, etc.): Form, compact soils to grade, erect structural reinforcing steel, consolidate and finish concrete or other hard surface pavement materials for repairs. Place, roll, and finish hot and cold mix asphalt in the repair of potholes and raveled edges, operate pavement saws, operate joint and crack sealing machine, crack and joint routing machine, and related hand tools. Install and repair chain-link, barbwire, split rail, wood privacy fences. Install, maintain and repair all signage, traffic control, informational, facility, street signs, clear debris and soils from drainage systems, repairs erosion throughout base by various methods.
  • Use, clean, and perform operator maintenance on all section assigned small and large powered equipment and machinery that include but not limited to: hot joint and crack sealing kettle, crack chasers, mobile air compressors, pneumatic/electric jackhammers, demolition saws, concrete saws, chain saws, limb chipping machine, concrete core drill and bits, motorized compaction units, post sleeve driver.
  • As part of the snow removal team, the incumbent may perform section stand by duties and snow removal operations to include but not limited to: snow plowing, snow removal, load liquid deicer tanks to apply deicing chemicals to streets, and report usages on both granular and liquid chemicals, operate front end/skid steer loaders, backhoes to load deicing chemical spreaders and work alternate and extended shift schedules during snow events when necessary.
  • The incumbent is to perform equipment checks as required to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and in safe operating condition. Notates any repair or maintenance needed and notifies vehicle maintenance facility of any deficiencies prior to operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience providing knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the duties as identified above. Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License Class “A” required.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background check and drug test.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold/heat, etc.).
  • Must be able to perform stand-by duties when scheduled and report to work within one hour of notification.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer to include weekends and holidays.
  • Physically fit to bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift up to 60 lbs.

  • Resolves problems promptly with minimal adverse impact on the functional operation.

Hourly Rate: $29.56
