Job Summary


Amentum is hiring a GSE Mechanic in Elizabeth City, NC.

The individuals must meet all qualifications and be fully capable of performing the following work:

• Diagnose malfunctions and repair Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
• Advise and train lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems.
• Inspect and approve completed maintenance actions, solve repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications.
• Use automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, and analyze, diagnose, and repair GSE using conventional and digital test equipment.
• Maintain external fuel and grounding systems
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE.
• Inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation in accordance with technical publications.
• Disassemble and assemble malfunctioning GSE accessories and components; remove, disassemble, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble, and reinstall GSE components and accessories; stencil and mark GSE in accordance with technical publications.
• Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal (ALC) environmental standards and regulations.
• Follow all Base and ALC hazmat/ waste and environmental compliance policies and procedures
• Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment; and operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles.
• Maintain vehicle records in accordance with USCG service guidance.
• Maintain and update paper and electronic equipment records; provide dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
• Practice good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times.
• Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.
• Comply with work order timekeeping system procedures.
• Maintain high state of cleanliness and utilize a clean-as-you-go process when executing maintenance duties. Perform weekly Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk-downs.
• Maintain situational awareness, stay cognitive-focused, and mitigate risks.
• Comply with processes and procedures as per DHS/DOD documents and publications.
• Immediately report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Maintain and control tools IAW USCG tool control policy and instructions. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis to identify when to replace worn or broken tools and report the need for replacement tools to the supervisor.
• Clean work area as necessary, assuring all hazardous materials are properly stored; Handle hazardous materials, expired materials and wastes in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
• Comply with safety rules and procedures and perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work area. Promptly report accidents, injuries, safety, violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.
• Perform weekly break room and smoking area cleaning duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

• Four (4) years documented experience in industrial equipment maintenance support.

• High School diploma or the equivalent.
• Four (4) years documented experience in industrial equipment maintenance support.
• Possess a valid United States driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a Government flight line driver’s license.
• Possess knowledge of basic computer skills sufficient to use Government computer system to access various technical references for airframe repairs and Government training requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret data is required.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
