Electric Door Mechanic

The Electric Door Mechanic performs routine preventative scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs of the secure conference facilities of the U.S. Embassy and assists with minor electrical installations.


Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting doors and related mechanical and electromechanical devices.
  • Verifies proper door operation and perform repairs as needed
  • Provides a report to OIC/ESC detailing duties performed, problems encountered, and proposed solutions.
  • Assists security engineering staff with testing the integrity of the secure conference facilities and perform repairs and upgrades as required
  • Performs an inventory of consumable stock supplies and advises ESC logistics personnel when additional supplies are needed
  • Troubleshoots problems, utilizes basic test equipment and meters, provides detailed verbal/written reports on problems, assists with new electrical and electromechanical installations

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have completed journeyman training in either the electrical or an electromechanical trade
  • Must have five years documented experience as a journeyman in an appropriate trade Must know how to read electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings
  • Must be able to write clear reports and have a basic knowledge of computers
  • Ability to perform physical labor and heavy lifting including equipment which may, upon occasion, include items up to 100 lbs.
  • Must have a familiarity with basic hand tools and knowledge of and skill using basic electrical testing equipment such as a multi-meter
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain a Top Secret government security clearance
