Job Summary

Responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, testing and the installation of a variety of complex telecommunications & telemetry systems installed throughout the AUTEC project and at CONUS sites as required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and Perform in depth troubleshooting of Large Area Tracking Range (LATR) systems.
  • Install and maintain shipboard and helicopter mounted LATR installations.
  • Install and maintain shipboard Data Logger systems.
  • Track and complete monthly Range Utilization Journal Entry (RUJE) entries.
  • Maintain and Perform in depth troubleshooting of telecommunications equipment to subassembly level and complete and document repairs.
  • Perform maintenance for campus level Public Branch Exchange (PBX) and radio-to-wire intercom system.
  • Perform maintenance on VHF/UHF Transceivers and antenna systems.
  • Perform installation of Telephones and CATV drops, installation and maintenance of inside and outside plant cable systems.
  • Assist in new equipment installation and Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT).
  • Perform analysis of equipment and systems on a daily basis to assess performance.
  • Perform administrative record keeping and spares inventories for maintenance of assigned systems.
  • Perform on-call duties as required or scheduled.
  • Utilize antenna testers, Watt Meters, VOMs, pulse generators, Communications Test Sets, dynamic signal analyzers and other various test equipment.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED and minimum of four years related experience working in a telecommunications technology environment with extensive training and hands-on experience in a specialty field, e,g. Land Mobile Radio (LMR), satellite communications, circuits, Wide Area Network (WAN) circuits, telemetry and SCADA, telephony (POTS and VOIP, inside plant operations, outside plant operations) OR Associates degree in telecommunications, information systems, or an electronics subject area and two years related experience OR military equivalent training in a closely related field and two years of related experience. Must be able to work aboard ships at sea to install and de-install telemetry, packet radio and other RF dependent equipment. Proficient with test equipment for thorough analysis of equipment and sub-systems. PC literate to maintain data bases creates spreadsheets and word processing skills required. Valid passport and Driver’s licensed required. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S government security clearance. Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.


Preferred Qualifications

Current Secret security clearance preferred. Past experience working with crypto equipment desired. Current and past experience repairing circuit boards not required, but desired. Outside plant maintenance and installation highly desired. Thorough understanding of wire and cable installation standards and common telecommunication related protocols desired.
