Job Summary

SURETY:

This position is designated as a chemical duty position and is subject to the requirements of the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, urinalysis testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by Army Regulation 50-6.

  • Require routine access to chemical surety materials.
  • Are authorized to escort visitors to areas containing chemical surety materials.
  • Are operators of equipment that disassembles chemical munitions/containers or handle chemical surety materials during demilitarization operations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / TASKS:

· Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

· Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

· Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

· Perform a variety of journeyman mechanical, welder/pipefitter, painter/carpenter, insulator functions in the installation/removal or corrective/preventative maintenance, repair or modification of facility systems, equipment and components (such as conveyors, compressors, cranes, piping, pumps, and valves).

· Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts and specifications in the performance of these duties to ensure system integrity is maintained.

· Perform emergency repairs to systems, equipment, and components. Record the as-found condition as well as the repaired condition, investigating operational reports of equipment failure and analyze system characteristics to determine cause of failure and necessary corrective action.

· Demonstrate and conduct required inspection and testing of equipment and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensure systems are returned to operational conditions.

· Follow predetermined checklist in the performance of preventative maintenance of facility equipment and systems.

· Utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, and measurement and test equipment in the performance of duties.

· Set up and demonstrate pressure test as necessary to complete work packages and return systems to operational conditions.

· Assure code and building standards are met.

· When assigned to the SDC, may perform munitions handling and or transport duties through use of forklift, list assist devices or via electric utility vehicles.

Compensation & Benefits

STARTING RATE: $32.61

Potential Fully Certified Rate: $45.08 - This position is part of a certification pay program, which provides additional pay increases as necessary training and certifications are completed. On average, a minimum of two pay increases would be obtained within the first six months of employment.

This position includes participation in the PCAPP Employee Retention Incentive Benefit Plan, which provides a financial incentive encouraging personnel to remain employed by Amentum at the PCAPP project through a specified timeframe provided qualifiers are met.


Minimum Requirements

REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS:

Basic Qualifications:

· High school diploma/equivalent and 6 years industrial maintenance experience in one or more of the following crafts: pipe fitter, boilermaker, welder, millwright, machinist, plant mechanic, agricultural equipment mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, insulation installer, coatings installer, or HVAC mechanic; or maintenance background (including assisting maintenance technicians in entries, the Yard, etc.) with 6 years chemical demilitarization experience, PCAPP Primary Certification or higher and ability to obtain and maintain Level A entry status.

Or, Completion of formal apprenticeship, similar accredited training program (such as vocational, trade, commercial, or military) in the mechanical field or journeyman certification and demonstrated proficiency in one or more of the following crafts: pipe fitter, boilermaker, welder, millwright, machinist, plant mechanic, agricultural equipment mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, insulation installer, coatings installer, or HVAC mechanic.

  • Must be a US Citizen or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain PCAPP site access.
  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.
  • Must be willing and able to work in an industrial environment that is in close proximity to and/or in a chemical demilitarization facility.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have a general understanding of material handling equipment maintenance.
  • Have a general understanding of mechanical equipment operation.
  • Have a general understanding of mechanical equipment maintenance.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Able to exercise good judgement in solving mechanical and equipment problems.
  • Utilize a variety of mechanical maintenance hand tools, power tools, measurement and test equipment in the performance of duties.

Preferred Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:

  • Able to perform precision work such as equipment alignment, reverse runout alignment and close tolerance fitting.
  • Mechanical experience working with pumps and valves.
  • Experience in a toxic or hazardous work environment (chemical agent-destruction or nuclear facility).
  • Able to operate material handling equipment
  • Able to develop technical solutions to address maintenance related problems while minimizing cost and impact on schedule.
