Job Summary

If you are looking to continue your career providing engineering technical support to the world's finest Navy, we may have the position you are looking for. We are in need of a Surface Ship Ventilation Technician to support our Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) customer. This is a full-time position supporting one of our long-standing customers.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance in the troubleshooting of various ventilation systems on Navy Surface ships
  • Provide recommendations to ship's force on repairs necessary to return equipment to full operations/standards
  • Assist with grooming of systems and equipment to return it to the Original Equipment Manufactures (OEM) specifications
  • Conduct cold/hot checks as necessary to determine equipment condition
  • Use appropriate measuring equipment to obtain data for evaluation
  • Provide equipment assessments during INSURV
  • Provide On-the-Job training to ship's force during assessments, grooms and Technical Assist visits
  • Complete all required reports
  • Other tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least seven (7) years of job-related experience, or equivalent
  • General Requirements:
    • Working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, inspections, visit processes and reporting methods for visits
    • Experience regularly using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment
    • Ability to interpret ship’s drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics as required to accomplish assigned tasks.
    • Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite to:
      • Compile information for reports and history files
      • Transfer digital pictures from camera to computer, enhance as required, and label them for report purposes
    • Ability to interact and support other inspection teams, such as but not limited to, INSURV and ERAT
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
    • Ability to perform tasking while onboard a ship during underway/at-sea periods
  • Specialized Requirements:
    • Minimum six (6) years of experience in the operation, repair, maintenance and inspection support of US Naval Ships' HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioned) systems including Toxic dampers, Fire dampers, Well Deck fans, sanitary spaces, and fan cooling coil assemblies
    • Minimum of four (4) years specialized hands-on experience supporting ventilation assessments on navy ships
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance prior to starting
