Job Summary

We are recruiting for a future opening to support our Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) customer starting spring 2023 providing Naval Architecture Technician support to our Norfolk-based surface fleet. Essential responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical assistance, assessments, corrective actions and support for Norfolk-based ships
  • Conduct inspections and/or assessments of current ship conditions
  • Evaluate the findings of the inspections and/or assessments and determine a way ahead to correct the situation
  • Upon completion of each ship visit, provide a written visit debrief/report to the SME
  • Answer Engineering Service Request (ESR) and Departure from Specification (DFS)
  • May be requested to attend conferences, seminars etc., and shall report results to the SME
  • Provide on-the-job training to Ship's Force during any shipboard evolutions

Minimum Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of general experience with the installation, operation, repair, testing and maintenance of naval or marine structure and preservation systems
  • Experience in the assessment, repair, and maintenance of structure and coating systems on US Naval ships
  • Have knowledge about sheet-metal, preservation, nonskid, materials, insulation, piping and welding on Navy Ships, and have hands-on experience with this equipment in the last two (2) years.
  • National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Level III, NACE Level II, or NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector (NBPI)
  • A working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits
  • Ability to utilize computers including Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and historical files
  • Ability to transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required with proper labeling for report purposes
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and orally
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship
