Traffic Cargo Technician

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides movement control support for the surface/air/sea movement of cargo and personnel through the applicable transportation system.
  • Responsible for receiving, validating, and processing all transportation movement requests (TMR) and Air Movement Requests (AMR) for the personnel and equipment transiting, originating, and terminating assigned MCT Area of Responsibility.
  • Labeling, placarding, and marking equipment for shipment.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots problem areas in movement and recommends solutions to management.
  • Works closely with customers to ensure desired movement objectives, priorities and schedules are met and communicated to management. Analyzes work process and develops matrix for measuring performance.
  • Prepares, compiles, and submits reports on work schedule, activities, operations, and production. Confers with customer, supervisors, contractors, and other personnel to exchange information and resolve problems.
  • Responsible for picking up and dropping off cargo to the for internal and external customers.
  • Responsible for conducting Center of balance and Weight along with the Transportation Coordinators.
  • Responsible for conducting Joint Inspections with the Aerial Port for All equipment traveling via Air.
  • Prepares documentation to coordinate with supporting carriers for all equipment being retrograded.
  • Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the Amentum Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
  • Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the Amentum Quality Management System.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) to Five (5) years of experience in related field
  • Must be able to adjust in procedures and operations to accomplish work effectively and efficiently.
  • Must have knowledge of packaging, blocking, and bracing and restraint requirements for surface movement of equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of transportation documentation; TCMDS; packing list and MSLs; loading of containers, pallets, and flat racks.
  • Must have moderate skill in Microsoft applications.
  • Preferred familiarity with military Information Management Systems for movement to include knowledge and expertise in Transportation System.
  • Must be able to read and address correspondence, reports, and technical materials in the individual's special field.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English
  • Must be a EU resident and authorized to work in Germany
