Decommissioning Technician

We a currently recruiting for Nuclear Decommissioning Technicians to join the business located in Aldermaston to work on long term decommissioning projects.

As a Nuclear Decommissioning Technician, you will be involved in the day-to-day Nuclear Decommissioning activities associated with project, the role will require candidates to wear RPE equipment, respirators and Pressurised Breathing Air Suits while operating tooling to size reduce and decontaminate plant and equipment.

Candidates must be team players willing to learn new skills and be expected to undertake all tasks with a high regard for safety.

Full training will be given to successful candidates in all aspects of the decommissioning activities they will undertake to ensure the safe, successful delivery of the project.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operate cutting, lifting and handheld tooling, band saws, nibblers, reciprocating saws, etc
  • Undertake size reduction, dismantling and decontamination of plant and equipment.
  • Carryout waste processing duties.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards before, during and after any operational tasks.
  • Perform any tasks involving the use/wear of RPE, PBAS (Pressurised Breathing Air Suits) and Respirators following the appropriate training.
  • Undertake glovebox work in support of decommissioning activities.
  • Assist in the construction of modular containment systems.
  • Comply with all rules, regulations, permit system and safety requirements in force for the project.
  • Safety - Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment. As appropriate, each employee is responsible for completing all training requirements and fulfilling all self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on employee safety committees and teams.

Experience:

Ideally candidates with previous nuclear decommissioning experience but full training will be provided to successful candidates.

Due to the nature of the role and the client, it is important that all applications have resided in the UK for at least 5 years. We need all candidates to ideally be Security Cleared (SC) or have no issue in obtaining SC and DV. A prerequisite for SC is that the applicant has lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years.

Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing
