Avionics Technician: Kirtland AFB

Job Title: Avionics Technician

Location: Kirtland AFB (AFICA Program)

Rate: $50.16/hr

Notes: Direct hire with PAE including full benefits

Avionics Technicians with the following knowledge and experience:

  • Ability to apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals, military technical data, schematics or similar documents.
  • Knowledge of avionics systems, i.e. comm systems, color weather radar, navigation aids, FLIR, GPS, IDAR, AHHS, VAWS, SPS and fuel indicating systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, inspect solder and modify avionics, electrical and instrumentation systems installed on the aircraft.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents. Calibrate installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.
  • Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher level technician/engineer, for compliance with accepted practices.
  • May accompany flight crew to perform in-flight adjustments and to determine and record required post-flight repair work. Sign overhaul documents for equipment replaced or repaired. May operate ground station for air-to-station check of radar or other equipment.
  • Remove, install, handle and transport CAD/PAD items for aircraft systems i.e. rescue hoist and fire bottles.
  • Document all work accomplished in aircraft records and maintenance data collection systems.
  • Assists on an as required basis with basic ground handling tasks such as but not limited to towing, jacking, refuel/defuel, aircraft launch/recovery and aircraft/engine wash.

In addition, the candidate shall possess the following requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Minimum 4 years aircraft maintenance experience with at least 1 year within the past 3 years on any H-1 or H-60.
  • Civilian aviation license in required specialty or equivalent military technical training certificate.
  • Be physically able to perform all duties required by the position to include travel and field recovery.
  • Obtain/maintain secret security clearance.
  • Obtain/maintain Restricted Area Badge.
  • Comply with written company maintenance and logistics procedures.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Reliable, self-motivated and able to follow direction of supervisors/managers in stressful situations with timelines while maintaining a professional, courteous and non-confrontational attitude.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Working conditions

Employee is required to move about both inside aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft parking ramps in close proximity to running aircraft and equipment. Required lifting up to 50 lbs.
