I&C Technician
Amentum is seeking an I&C Technician for the SDC1200 located at the Bluegrass Chemical Agent Destruction Pilot Plant Project located in Richmond, Kentucky.
Typical Responsibilities include:
Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees
Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations
May be required to work overtime or varying hours to include shift work
Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record
Work in close proximity to and or in a chemical demilitarization facility
Work with other departments as necessary to cooperatively complete assigned tasks
Maintain housekeeping within assigned areas
Assist with development, review, and/or validation of all standard operating procedures associated with assigned duties
Assist with modifications or revisions to plant systems, equipment, and components
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts and specifications in the performance of the duties to ensure system integrity is maintained
Develop technical solutions to maintenance related problems minimizing cost and schedule impact
Communicate technical information to management, peers and subordinates ensuring sound operations are not compromised
Follow predetermined checklists in performance of preventative maintenance of facility equipment and systems
Assure code and building standards are met
Perform variety of instrumentation, control and electronics trade functions including modifications, revisions, and corrective and preventative maintenance on facility systems, equipment, and components (e.g., instrumentation, control circuits, pressure indicators and temperature indicators, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), motor control centers, motors, HVAC units, control and power circuits involved in the installation of conduit, cable trays, raceways, wiring and other associated electrical equipment in support of plant configuration changes
Perform journeyman level duties in the installation, repair and maintenance of low voltage electrical equipment, systems and components
Perform emergency repairs to systems, equipment, and components; record as-found condition as well as repaired condition; and analyze system characteristics to determine cause of failure
Demonstrate and conduct required inspection and testing of systems, equipment, and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensure they are returned to operational conditions
Maintain accountability of property, including tools and maintenance equipment
Assist vendors with performing electrical maintenance tasks beyond project’s capability
Perform other collateral duties as assigned for project operations
Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Technician may be assigned to function in a temporary lead capacity
Must serve as an Emergency Response Team Member
May be required to perform Munitions Handler duties
May be required to obtain and maintain a CDL
This position is designated as a chemical duty position and is subject to the requirements of the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP). As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, urinalysis testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by Army Regulation 50-6. Chemical duties for this position are:
Require routine access to chemical surety materials.
Are authorized to escort visitors to areas containing chemical surety materials.
Control direct access to chemical surety material.
Issue proximity cards, personal identification numbers (PINs), keys, combinations, biometric codes, or any other mechanism that provides direct access to chemical surety material.
Are motor vehicle/material handling equipment operators involved in movement of chemical agents.
Are operators of equipment that disassembles chemical munitions/containers or handle chemical surety materials during demilitarization operations.
SDC at BGCAPP is subject to Army Regulations (AR 50-6 Chemical Surety Program and AR190-59 Unescorted Access Program) which govern persons performing work under the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP) and unescorted Access Program (UAP). Eligibility to be placed in a CPRP or UAP position requires US citizenship. Employees must favorably complete a series of screenings to include but not limited to: a National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC) security investigation, drug/alcohol testing and medical examination.
All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. Respiratory screening and the ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required for this position. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the Blue Grass Army Depot is required.

Basic Qualifications:
Associate degree in instrumentation and control (I&C) or a related field and 2 years’ industrial maintenance experience in an operating demilitarization, chemical, power, processing, industrial service or manufacturing plant
Completion of formal apprenticeship or similar accredited training program (such as vocational, trade, commercial, or military) in the instrumentation and control (I&C) field or journeyman certification and 4 years’ industrial maintenance experience in an operating demilitarization, chemical, power, processing, industrial service or manufacturing plant
Or
High school diploma or equivalent and 6 year’s industrial I&C maintenance experience in an operating demilitarization, chemical, power, processing, industrial service or manufacturing plant
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) site access
Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment
Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any depot or BGCAPP drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement
Must have thorough understanding of electrical equipment operation, and electrical equipment maintenance requirements and restrictions imposed by safety and environmental regulations
Demonstrate competency in analog and digital process control loop and instrument maintenance repair and troubleshooting
Sound fundamental use of measuring and testing equipment consistent with I&C scope of work
Must be able to use common hand tools, power tools, measurement and test equipment
Desired qualifications
Experience in start-up facilities, utilities, and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems
Experience in a toxic or hazardous materials or heavy industrial work environment
Understanding of hazardous materials, furnaces, scrubber systems, management procedures, and techniques
Considerable knowledge/experience making real time process/production decisions representing plant management
Experience in a toxic or hazardous materials work environment
Experience in heavy industrial work environment
Experience with Explosive Destruction Technology (EDT) or chemical weapons demilitarization
