Safety/OSHA Inspector, (FAA A&P) Germany

The Safety/OSHA Inspector shall provide an aircraft inspector certified to conduct Safety and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and compliance assurance for all Safety, OSHA, and DA requirements and reporting.

  • Develops and implements ground safety programs to ensure compliance with contract specifications and host installation.
  • Maintains workplace Safety Inspections IAW, Company & host base installation safety requirements.
  • Conducts safety inspections, training, briefings and drills.
  • Performs safety related ISO inspections IAW SOP.
  • Gives support briefings, training and guidance on OSHA general industry safety and HAZMAT hazardous material communications and Employee Right to Know briefings for employees.
  • Gathers and reports pertinent data for all scheduled/unscheduled safety reporting requirements.
  • Monitors air sampling data for employee exposure limits.
  • Administers respirator protection program, Environmental Protection Program, fall protection program, Confined Space Entry Program, Hearing Conservation program and all other applicable OSHA requirements to ensure contract compliance.
  • Participates in supporting host installation SDS program.
  • Participates in monitoring the proper storage/use/disposal of hazardous chemicals (HAZMAT) utilized by employees IAW government host standards.
  • Works with local garrison Environmental and Occupational Safety office to meet contract requirements.
  • Makes on the spot corrections with employees on safety and makes recommendations on "near miss" reporting for process improvement with the Quality Manager.
  • Reports to on-site management in all matters related to employee safety, accidents and/or injuries.
  • Ensures all hazardous materials are properly marked, product information is entered into an approved database, items are properly packaged, and that current Safety Data Sheets accompany product shipments.
  • Establishes and maintains proper storage, segregation, and inspection procedures for assets that have a hazardous material code.
  • Evaluates personnel, including verification that safety training is up to date.
  • Acts as the point of contact for collection of contractor generated HAZWASTE and shipping preparation.
  • Reviews maintenance safety source documents, notes recurring safety discrepancies or trends and initiates appropriate corrective action.
  • Initiates and reviews safety deficiency reports and hazardous material reports, ensuring that they are accurate, clear, concise and comprehensive.
  • Receives safety mishap reports and studies them for corrective action.
  • Perform other duties as requested

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • An Associates degree in industrial hygiene, environmental, health and safety management or other associated discipline preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience in an EHS discipline is desirable.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is desirable.
  • Shall have five years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience.
  • License: FAA A&P or FCC Elements 1 and 3 required.
  • Must possess a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P), with at least one year experience inspecting assigned Mission Design Series (MDS) UH60 aircraft. If no A&P (FCC Elements 1 and 3 required), shall have a minimum five-year experience as an aircraft inspector on the Mission Design Series (MDS)UH60 airframe they will be inspecting.
  • Must be US Citizen. Must have a current and valid US Passport.
  • TESA approval: Must be able to qualify for TESA approval; must have over 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.
  • Security: National Security Position (National Agency Check with written Inquires (NACI – T1CAC) or Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) qualification required. Interim NACI approved to start.
  • Travel: As required in support of task order.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Must be familiar with OSHA and EPA standards.
  • American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, Local, and Host Nation environmental laws, policies and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and associated systems principles to complete properly all probable work tasks.
  • Knowledge of Quality Control, Production and Supply procedures required to perform job assignment.
  • Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.
  • Understands and has experience assessing and mitigating risk,
  • Well versed in hazard identification and implementing appropriate control measures.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and willing to continuously improve the site safety program.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access & Power Point.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have skill in reading, applying and interpreting technical data.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
