A DMAII in the Trenton, NJ Civil Division will be expected to perform the following assignments:

  • Performs docketing duties such as opening, updating, and closing civil cases through use of the USAO-DNJ’s automated case tracking system.
  • Performs case file management duties including receiving, logging, organizing, indexing, and managing documents, data, and other evidence collected pursuant to interrogatories, document requests, requests for admission, subpoenas, civil investigative demands, or other civil discovery requests as part of civil investigations. Upload documents, data and other evidence received consistent with existing file folder structures on the USAO-DNJ’s network.
  • Performs detailed review and analysis of case materials. Tabs, numbers, labels, and assembles documents, data, and other evidence gathered as part of civil investigations. Prepares chronologies of documents and case materials. Prepares tables, graphs, and charts of case materials which may be incorporated into legal documents or courtroom presentations.
  • Screens for privileged documents and materials.
  • Assists AUSAs in assembling and organizing documents, data, and other evidence forwitness interviews, depositions, settlement negotiations, hearings and trial; assists AUSAs in the preparation of PowerPoint presentations, binders, and exhibits.
  • Obtains needed information from government agencies, government databases and other publicly available sources. Using established databases, performs data searches, report design, and other data retrieval assignments.
  • •Provides automated litigation assistance to AUSAs utilizing various software applications such as Relativity, iPro Eclipse, Everlaw, CaseMap, TimeMap, Trial Director, Beyond Compare, USAfx (cloud storage interface), and SecureZip.
  • •Maintains calendar of assigned active civil cases. Tracks filing, hearing, and trial dates, and scheduling conferences and interviews. Develops and maintains suspense system for ongoing cases and informs the AUSA of pending dates and deadlines. Schedules appointments, interviews, and conferences, and provides reminders of commitments and court appearances.
  • •Arranges travel by preparing itineraries and securing transportation and hotel reservations. Prepares travel authorizations and vouchers for signature by authorized government personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Requires 3 years of experience on major litigation support projects or undergraduate degree.
  • Prior experience in the legal environment is required.
  • Must be able to work independently in a team environment.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills are required.
  • Requires hands-on familiarity with the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, data processing environments, including office automation networks, PC-based databases and other applications, internet and server-based databases and other applications, such as Oracle, Relativity or other document review platform, Trial Director, etc.
  • Must be knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Must have experience conducting legal research using databases such as Lexis, Westlaw or Pacer.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources preferred.
