Carpenter - RSSII

Responsible for repairs, replacement and modifications of wood/metal or other materials utilized in framework, rafters, trusses, interior and exterior trim, staircases and other wood or wood substitute articles, building, structural additions, modifications or repairs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs rough framing, steel framing, steel forms, and wall forms.

  • Hangs drywall, installs and repairs suspended ceilings and raised flooring.

  • Mounts and repairs overhead door operators, doors and door frames as well as some finish carpentry.

  • Must be able to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.

  • Proficient is use of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments, and making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.

  • Must be able to research, specify, and order materials for the assigned work.

  • Must have computer skills to include MS Office products and use computer-based time keeping programs.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Qualified Journeyman in accordance with union rules.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain licenses/certifications as needed to perform assigned duties including OSHA-10 card, Construction Industry, Scaffolding Erection, CPR/First-Aid Certification, Scissor Lift I Man Lift Certification.

  • Certification or experience in GSA vaults & containers desired.

  • Industrial Locksmith experience desired.

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, complex environment.

  • Must possess basic computer skills.

  • Qualify for and maintain a government security clearance (TS/SSBI) and access to the assigned work location.

  • Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. with or without accommodation. Must utilize all proper lifting procedures and practices. Must be able to climb and work off of ladders, elevated platforms, and wear fall arrest gear. Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of stooping; climbing; standing; and sitting for long periods of uninterrupted time. Must have normal color vision, freedom from fear of heights and confined spaces. May be required to wear a respirator. Must comply with all Safety practices and Environmental regulations. Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must be able to work under pressure and strenuous conditions. Must be able to work in a remote location with limited medical personnel and facilities. May require shift work and uncommon duty assignments including nights, weekends, and holidays.
